Ray?

First person to mention Steve Irwin should be ashamed of themselves.

Yeah, he was way more prolific and had a higher value before he signed for us.
Rafa broke him

55 goals in 54 home games just wasn't good enough I guess. Maybe he should go back to the spanish second division.
has he really got that record? that's incredulous!

Wow. 5 pages, 97 replies, and not one quote about this Hazard motherfucker anywhere.

There should be a disclaimer on the first post of these threads which informs you as to whether this is an *actual* possibility of a signing, or if it's just another SpiderNeilathon of a thread.

but transfer rumours are hardly ever backed up by quotes whether they're true or not, are they? FWIW this link is supported by reports of us having scouts at a lille game, that's about as much proof as you ever seem to get with these things.

I saw this guy play once, can't remember in what game, but I was very impressed. He was quite dynamic and skillful. Yes, please.

I hope we have a proper clear out this summer.

Probably this game against us under Rafa gene...

Eden Hazard #26, Lille

I only really know his reputation and have seen a few matches here and there but Hazard is exactly the kind of player I'd want us to sign(doesn't necessarily have be him but players in this mould). Buying top young talent is currently the only way we are going to get the highest quality players at Liverpool. People are baulking at the reported £18m price tag but I believe the final fee would be heavily dependant on performances so it wouldn't pose as big of a risk as the figure would first indicate.

we need to go for these types of players because the finished article (for example ribery) is going to be far more expensive and wont come because we aren't in the CL.

does anyone know much about afellay's situation? he's apparently in the last year of his contract - you'd have thought there'd be loads of teams trying to sign him up in january. surely he's the obvious one to go for, then maybe hazard in the summer if we could afford him as well, because ideally we could really do with 2 top-class wingers.

what a difference that'd make to our attack.

Pienaar is free to talk to clubs in January.
On a free he wouldn't be too bad.
Pienaar would be a very good signing - and he'd piss the blueshite off like crazy. I like that! 🙂

Afellay on a free and 2-3 big signings, and the team looks good.

Also, i'd rather we get Lukaku as our Belgian starlet ...

how come belgium are suddenly producing all these quality players?

we should go for all 3 of them, hazard, lukaku and defour - all of them would plug holes in our squad. it'd be a big investment, obv, but they all look dead certs to be top players, so minimal risk, and spread over a decade.

Lukaku reminds me of Heskey unfortunately
I know it's the Belgian league, but to have scored 15-20 odd goals in 40+ appearaneces as a 17 year old says something ... He may not be 'Drogba' as many are claiming, but he's going to be a very good player as he matures.

I believe they started investing heavily on youth development after their national team went into decline. It is surely paying dividends now as their national team is full of young talent and even the biggest stars are mostly in their mid twenties. They'll have a really strong team in five years or so.

Hazard, Lukaku and Defour would be excellent piece of business. Also if it wouldn't work out for any one of them we could recoup most of the fee by selling him on so there's almost no risk at all. 8)

yep, it looks too good to be true, really. must be a catch somewhere, i suppose - but like you say, just from a purely financial point of view it's hard to see where he risk is: they've all got substantial reputations so you'd think the maority of their fees would be recoverable if they didn't settle.

He's got the most extreme physical presence for a 17 year old I've ever seen. 6"4 and 93 kg.

Haha, I believe his family is from Africa(Congo or Ghana?) but he's been born and bred in Belgium so shouldn't be any worries about that.

They won't at all. This is a team full of prima-donna's who are already under performing by not even making it to international tournaments. Like England, they're just not as good as they think they are, and none of them give a damn about the national team.
