Curtis comes of age

I haven’t said much in here for a long time, but fuck me what a performance from Curtis Jones tonight. We have a player here.

Don’t think the earlier points in the thread are undermined, but he was really really good tonight. Really good.

I don't think it's comparable. When Gerrard and Thompson appeared we were what? Thirty-eighth best team in Europe or something? Now we're the best team in the world and Curtis was arguably the best player in a match against our main rivals for the title tonight. He's a proper footy player. No doubt

I don't know anything about the Dortmund academy so I don't know what I'm on about, but I think klopp is invested in these careers as much as he's invested in LFC. You can just tell when he's asked about them. It makes me think he'll see out his contract. A legacy thing. I am drunk though it might be that.

I loved that he had a bit of confidence and flair tonight, that bit of skill about 10mins before time where he held off Kane (I think) and did that cute little pass to Robbo made me jizz a little bit. Fancy, but effective and not too ostentatious

He's really starting to provide exactly what we have always needed from the third CM - willingness to carry the ball forwards, trickery, runs into the box. He has very quickly learned the system, how to play and press without the ball and is now starting to show what he can do with the ball.

This has been excellent to watch.

I certainly thought he could make it over 3 years ago, from 2017

He's looking very good although the star anytime I watch them is Jones. Looks the most likely to make it.

And again in 2017 in a ‘next superstar thread’ from the academy.
Jones in the u18 will be our next big star.
And in 2018 in the ‘next player to break into the first team from the academy
I really like Jones any time I see him in the under 18's so I'll go with him.

The kid looks a baller.

The good thing is he's not even physically developed yet fully, but his confidence and decision making right now belies his years. He's got the right balance between risk and safety right now.

I've been very impressed. He looks an established midfielder already. What we were hoping for from Keita.

I thought Curtis was a winger.

Can be easier to nurture young players by playing them out wide for a start, then move centrally later when ready.
There is much more space and things to anticipate in the middle.
Same goes at the back.

Yeah, I don't think Elliott's future is on the wing either. He's just too slow.
AM might be the way forward for him. Notices that Blackburn are playing him more central as well at times.

I recon Elliott is a Grealish type winger/playmaker. Curtis (please no “Cujo” for Heaven’s sake!) - I always thought he’d be a #8.

Winji and Curtis Jones
They've got a thing, goin' on
We all know it's near gone
But it's much too strong
To let it go now

Exactly this. The coaches have to keep him grounded, but as fans there's nothing to stop us getting seriously excited. The surge in his progress this season has been remarkable. Klopp questioned how much it was would cost to buy someone like Jones. Right now I'd say you're looking at £60m plus. He's quickly becoming an elite player.
