With that Armenian lad not likely to join us, knowing we've got around 20m to spend.

How would you add to this squad ?

Lets say Suarez is staying. What's your priority with the 20m ?

It's hard to say but if Suarez is staying, I'd toss it between a centre back and a midfielder, someone to compete with Lucas. There's a few other positions that need plugging aswell, but those have to be the priorities.

Pretty much what I would have in mind as well

There's been no talk of anyone to challenge Lucas so I'm guessing that isn't going to happen despite wishful thinking to the contrary, we will however be active in the CB market - as we should be as Skrtel wasn't reliable last season, Carra has retired, Coates and Wisdom are neither good enough (at the moment - and it may stay like that) and Kelly is neither proven as a season long CB nor reliable injury-wise.

I'd send Wisdom out on loan, Kelly as backup RB / cover for CB, sell Coates and Skrtel and bring in two CBs; one quality and established and one highly rated prospect.

I don't want someone to compete with Lucas, I want someone a lot better than him!

attacking midfielder, there's a reason we were willing to spend 20m on this lad. brendan's master plan about serious firepower. and i mean SERIOUS.

Hmmm a difficult one.... But I think i'd still go for Alderweireld and Eriksen from Ajax.... Not sure if we could get both for 20 mill maybe just a little over.

It didn't work for Newcastle or any other supposed free scoring team. You have to have a defence worthy of the name and whilst ours is not a shambles, for the latter part of last season we were reliant on a soon to retire 35 yr old to show defensive prowess.

If no one else is leaving, then I'd buy a Yaya Toure type player. Versatile, agile, creative but also ready to roll his sleeves up when needed.

Attacking players? That's what we have been buying since January. We need some steel in our midfield and a starting cb. And a lb as 3rd priority.

and on £250,000 a week.

20M should enable us to a buy a decent CB and a decent DM.

Our only step to address our failing defence and unbalanced midfield so far is to sign Kolo Toure on a free transfer, which is clearly insufficient.

A lack of goals isn't going to be a problem this year providing Luis stays, which is why I was surprised £20M was being invested up front,

As everyone has said, if the squad stays as it is, we need competition for Agger and Skrtel (not a fat kolo toure) and competition for Lucas. I think we could also do with something for for competition for left back. All in all, there should be plenty of cash left to cover those 2-3 positions.
I don't think goals from midfield should be an issue, there 'should' be plenty of goals between suarez/sturridge/borini/aspas/alberto/coutinho/gerrard.

Bolton would argue that Spearing was reliable and Shelvey, in scored 5 goals but unfortunately for him he played a bit-part season

Yeah but keeping him relates to how he plays for us. Spearing had some terrible games (FA cup final etc) and certainly isn't what you'd call reliable at this level
