Covid-19 & Football

Not really wankers just people vote for self interest. That’s been always been the way whether it’s football or politics

Every club bar is having a poor season so a void gives them a years grace.

Thankfully the football authority want to finish the season.

It will be strange winning the title on an empty training pitch on St. George’s,

I like the idea we play 2 games win the league and give our first team a massive time off before starting the next season.

BBC are doing a poll on what should happen to the season.

Currently 38% of voters are suggesting season should be declared null and void immediately. Wankers

I'm amazed it isn't higher.

If I was a fan of United, City or Everton, I'd be voting "null and void" too.

If United/ City/ Spurs/ Chelsea or even Everton (hahahaha) were in the position we are now, would we be all saying "yeah, we must give them the opportunity to win it" or "Just crown them Champions, it's only fair!"?

Would. We. Fuck.

If Everton's season is voided that could be a fucking disaster for them, that would be the third season after massive spending, still left with a squad that isn't good enough, & still no European footy or the rewards that go with it to show for it...

The players have been resting for the 3/4 weeks. The last 10 or so games will be like a pre season for the players

Looking further ahead than that it would be saving them from having 10 games to finish this season and then going (almost) straight in to a 38 game season. I’d have them fully geared to that season whilst others will be feeling it half way through.

Here in Austria the teams of the Bundesliga are allowed to train again and the season will be finished behind closed doors. Matches are starting in about two weeks.

Merkel has confirmed no mass gathering until 31/08. So games behind closed doors in Germany for now, with a restart date of early may

Multiple clubs of the premier league are now suggesting the league must be finished by June 30th, and that next season is more important than the current season.

It's not happening is it?

It is happening because nobody wants to miss out on £50m+.

Completing the league by 30 June is one option to be discussed and they’ll try to play as many games as possible before then. Nobody has come up with any resolution to a final table as they still do not want to void the season.

The stumbling block is players out of contract at the end of June. FIFA’s suggestion of extended them won’t work with contract law. Not that we’d miss Clyne just fucking off.

Once again nobody suggest why it is more important to start next season before completing this season.

It’s more important because it stops us winning the league and most other fans will love singing about for years to come no matter how many people die

The Anfield Wrap did a dead good podcast about this, & pointed out that there's a reasonable chance that next season could be curtailed, delayed, or voided, depending on new waves of this or a mutation.

If they'd voided this season already, then the narrative would surely switch to, "Is there any point playing, investing money/time, in this when last season was voided & this one may be?"

It would seriously risk devaluing the 'brand' if that were to happen.

But everything is geared to us winning the league as any fumer will tell you.

Most clubs would go bankrupt if next season were to be voided. If that had to happen, I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a shit load of contract free players and seriously weakened teams.

That’s why fuck all clubs will vote to void the league. They need that cash for completing seasons to keep rolling in.

I’m guessing if they had to choose between voiding the partially paid current season and the non-paid next season, they’d choose to void this current one.

Neither are a realistic option. They need to be paid for both seasons. They’ve already been spending that money. That means they’ll find a way to complete both.

Somehow get this season done even if it means behind closed doors. Condense next season even if it means scrapping international games where possible and scrap the cups. Play 38 games over 25 weeks.

9 teams, before the meeting today, wants the season finished before 30th of June. Its not getting voided.

Look to the Bundesliga and how they will get the games played.
