Barcelona superstar Neymar wants Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho to join him at the Nou Camp: 'He is a player that would totally fit'

Neymar wants to play alongside Philippe Coutinho at Barcelona - and he believes the Liverpool star would have no problem fitting in with Lionel Messi and Co.
Coutinho has attracted interest from the Spanish giants after his fine performances in the Premier League, with newspaper Mundo Deportivo recently claiming that a summer move for the 24-year-old was being weighed-up by Barca chiefs.
And Neymar, who plays with the ex-Inter Milan man for Brazil, hopes his compatriot can be lured to the Nou Camp in the future.

Coutinho only signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract at Anfield in January, with his £200,000-a-week salary making him the highest-paid player in the club's history.
But Neymar is confident his friend has the ability and attitude to make it in Spain.
Asked which player he would like to join Barca, Neymar said: 'A Premier League player that I would like to have in Barcelona is Coutinho.
'I believe Philippe Coutinho is a player that would totally fit in Barcelona.

Every two weeks Neymar spunks his load over Coutinho. Reports also are that Messi doesn't want Coutinho at Barcelona.

Messi vs Neymar - Who wins?

i might be in the minority here but genuinely wouldn't mind selling him for 50m+ he's a good player and a very good player on his day but for me still not consistent enough to be a world beater. also don't think he'll go straight into their first team!

I'm in that minority as well.

I suppose it doesn't really matter who would consider a sale and who wouldn't. If Barca really want him, he'll end up going. We just need to make sure we get a good fee.

Is 50M a good fee?

If Coutinho really is their no.1 target as some papers are reporting, I'd say it isn't.

James cost Real Madrid £75m and that was few years ago - a figure similar to that would be adequate.

I'd only consider a sale if it was £75m, but Barcelona claim it was closer to £60m.

In all seriousness, reports over the weekend suggested that James would be open to signing for us if we make the CL.

Only way this happens, if at all, is if Coutinho goes to Barcelona. Annual Isco rumours abound again. Available for £10m apparently.

James had a marvellous World Cup.

What did Coutinho do?

He's just signed a long term contract.

We need to hold out one more season until after the World Cup then we can get additional silly money for him.

I'm not panicking about selling him, cos he's so maddeningly inconsistent.

The only thing that makes me hesitate is thinking that he could have an amazing world cup & we end getting a ridiculous fee for him.

The issues with James - be under Rafa or Zidane has been work ethic (read: laziness) from what I've read ... How on earth will that work for Klopp?

If Barca are going for Coutinho over Veratti, we need to ensure we get 60-70 million minimum.

Great minds and all that..,,

I can't imagine James will come to Liverpool - he'll go to Paris or somewhere equally glamorous with good night life.

Isn't Martial's transfer fee close to 60 million (with add ons, I know). I think we should be looking at a minimum of 75 million for Coutinho.

Even at that money, I would be reluctant to transfer as I don't think we will be able to find a replacement as good as him or convince a replacement as good as him to join us.

At some stage we need to stop selling our better players too. We got great money for Suarez but were never going to be able to replace him. We got great money for Sterling, but I think he'd be brilliant in our current team.

I think that too about Sterling and wonder would we be better with Sterling instead of Coutinho.

I think we are missing abit of directness. That bit of raw energy and decisiveness to get the ball and immediately take on whoever for the shortest route to goal.

With us it's always touch, look, take another touch, sideways or back. Teams will setup their buses and we end up looking lost. Our one touch plays are great to watch when they click but when a couple of players don't turn up the balls go all wayward and we have trouble making simple passes.

It's no surprise Mane has been our most dangerous player because he has been our most direct player. Having Sterling on the other flank would do wonders for our attack imo.

Monaco are asking £135m for Mbappe, Martial was sold for £56m and the Chinese are willing to a million 100's of thousands a week for mild to average players.

Barca are never going to pay that much. Their bid is going to be something of the order of 25-35 million plus add-ons. They don't overpay like Real Madrid. We also will have to endure months of whining from Barca or ex-Barca players in the press on how we are being unfair on them.

When Karl-Heinz Rummenigge speaks, you listen. And his advice, if you want to be the best club in the world, is: Never, ever sell your best players. "I believe a very important point in our history came in 2008," Rummenigge, a legend in German football and executive board chairman of the all-conquering Bayern Munich, told CNN.

"We received big offers from England and Spain for the transfer of Franck Ribery to big clubs and we decided not to accept," added the 58-year-old, referring to an official bid from Chelsea and an inquiry from Real Madrid for the player who had cost Bayern $40 million in 2007.

"That was very important. I believe because from that point onwards all clubs in Europe understood that Bayern Munich was not a selling club. It's a buying club and that's it."

Next Alonso? Liverpool free to sign 'exceptional' Barcelona maestro as part of £70m MegaDeal

Thanks to Neymar, the speculation linking Coutinho with a move to Barcelona continues to intensify, and reports in Spain over the weekend claim that the Catalan giants are more determined than ever to sign Liverpool's main man this summer.

Last week, Neymar made yet another public plea for Coutinho to leave Liverpool, and Barcelona are so desperate to seal the deal that they're reportedly willing to include one of their top players in the deal. According to Spanish newspaper Don Balon:

"Coutinho is a priority for Barcelona, and they plan to include Ivan Rakitic as part of the deal in aid to lower the Coutinho's fee".

Prior to his move to Barcelona, Liverpool were heavily linked with a move for Rakitic, and during the 2013-14 season, he hinted that he'd consider a move to Anfield. He told 24 Sata:

"I'm flattered to be linked with a big club like Liverpool, and it fills me with pride. Something is developing, but at the moment there is nothing concrete."

Jordan Henderson is a fan of Rakitic, and when asked last season about players he admires, he told enthused:

“Rakitic is one of the players I watch. He doesn’t get the praise given to Neymar, Messi or Suárez, but he’s so influential and does all the dirty work. He has qualities I can learn off"

The obvious irony here is that Hendo's place in the team (i.e. as the deep lying midfielder) will come under threat if Liverpool sign Rakitic, though knowing Klopp, he'll probably play the Croatian out of position as a number-10, or a right winger.

Obviously, Rakitic is not a like-for-like replacement for Coutinho, but he will undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool's midfield options. Is he a Klopp-type player, though? I doubt it. Whenever I see Rakitic play, he doesn't run around like a headless chicken trying to rack up his regulation 12 miles a game, so Klopp probably won't be interested.

29 though isn't he? Doesn't upset me unduly but he isn't a typical sounding target.

The major problem with signing 29 year olds is, if you're not careful, they'll be 31 or 32 in 2 or 3 years time.
