Brendan i loved him for his creativity and making our front players tick and the odd goal but i think ultimately he was a defensive liability in our team. He shines when we play the utter shit disorganised teams but when we play the mid to good teams he can go missing and his goals are not the winners. The stats prove this all the time he has been here and dont mention the man city game under rodgers as that was the only time. The better teams have figured out easily how to stop him in this league.

But it would seem that there are a few differing opinions about why we didn't continue with the whole 'not selling' approach, with some favouring a "we tried everything, but Coutinho's stinking attitude (despite being brilliant since he came back into the side) was just too much to take", a few quacking on about how it was actually all part of FSG's strategy to maximise his transfer fee (how lucky we are to have such careful, financially prudent owners!), and some other bollocks which I'm sure we'll be able to read and laugh about in due course, but signing VVD for 75m the same week is in no way related

I'm the calm in the storm, asking - and not once getting - a decent, well-reasoned and intellectually consistent response to why we have sold Coutinho mere months after such steely resolve in summer, that isn't the obvious truth: FSG don't care about winning trophies and only about ensuring we balance the books and maximise their investment
