Corner taken quickly! (The Madrid comeback prematch)

Milner has to play. He's the only midfielder we have that steps up regardless of the game, and we need someone who can keep a grip on the game. We also need to keep possession away from Modric and Kroos, so Thiago is a must. Fab obviously needs to play (and play better than he did in the first leg).

For no reason, other than keeping this thread alive and the gods happy.

I don't think our defense can stop them from scoring, so that makes this a bridge too far for us.

I think we can get a couple of goals, but we might become exposed in the process, and if they then score in the last third of the game, exit.

‐-------‐-----------Alli--------‐-------
TAA--N.Baresi--Kabak--Robbo
----Thiago--Fabs--Milner------
------Salah--Frim--Jota------

These are the games we brought Thiago in for. Gini and Mane are off form. I'd play Milner for experience over the youth of Jones.

Don't think that Milner is up to a full match at this level anymore, I would give him 60 mins tops. Jones for Thiago too, helps TAA vs Vini' jnr
I would go

I hope not. Winning the midfield against Kroos and Modric will be key.
Agreed. Would seem to run counter to what Klopp seems to have committed to as we close the season out. I still have doubts over Thiago-Fabinho partnership in our midfield in our current formation

We need Bobby to close down that space where Kroos operates rather than Fab. In the last match, their game plan was clear, to not pass the ball into the area where Fab operates. They switched the ball quickly whenever we lost possession, targeting the wings, especially our right and they had alot of joy with Trent largely isolated.

We need to provide more protection for our fullbacks, stay compact, and hope they will make a mistake which Mo or Mane can capitalised on and it's game on. If we play into their hands like how we did last week then we are in for a long 90 mins.

No chance on this game but would be nice just to get a result against a club from Madrid, it’s been ages.
Agent Benitez required for one night...

We’ve every chance we just everything to go our way ref and var for a start, Real had another defender injured at weekend so let’s get at them from the off. PS no Kieta whatsoever.

Just had a wee dream in-between snooze alarms.

We score from a miss-hit cross that catches the keeper out. Scuffed along the ground and into the near post.

For me the biggest thing I want to see is fight. There have been too many games this season where we have whimpered to a draw or to defeat (including the first leg, the pussies). We need our big players to step up and loud voices out there on the pitch. I want Millie on the pitch as captain.

Yup, last week was unacceptable because of that.
We were too flat for 45 minutes.
Play like fucking Liverpool for 90 minutes, and we have a chance.

We are not scoring three goals against that defence in ninety minutes. One goal for them and it's close to game over, so we have to be cautious, but clinical.

------Trent----Phillips------Kabak-------Robertson-----
----------------Thiago--------Fabinho-------------------------
------------------------Jones--------------------------------
------Salah---------Firmino----------Jota--------------

This side would have a fighting chance, providing the midfield can keep the ball, and Firmino brings his A-game. Firmino dropping into midfield will be vital in stopping Kroos and Modric from dominating the middle of the park, but his link-up play and the movement of Jota and Salah ahead of him will be crucial to exposing them. I'd give Jones the license to shoot on sight from around the box because no one else can do it, and we will need that tonight. Playing Thiago on the same line at Fabinho will help us prevent their counter attacks into the wide areas, but will make it more challenging for Jones and Firmino to progress the play. We need to get Trent as involved as possible and aiming all his crosses towards Jota at the back post.

I don't want to see Wijnaldum or Keita anywhere near the side, frankly. They got schooled. If it's not Jones I would hope with Milner alongside Fab and Thiago in place of Jones.
