I have explained to the wife that the pizza oven is essential tonight, I will therefore be switching the cooking of some sourdough flatbreads to the oven and might fire tomato and cheese on one to appease the football Gods.

Agreed - the authority from Robbo seems lessened without VVD and Hendo also barking orders. All of the front three seem to be head down and trying to force results rather than anything else.
It is a vital missing ingredient though, and Gini might have been next in line for the armband but he doesn't lead in the way we need him to.
Milner is vice captain, a fighter, a winner and very vocal. Even though he is pushing on a bit he's still someone you fancy in the team when you miss a player like Henderson. You at least know that you'll get 110%.

I dunno about that. The boy is good but he's not that good yet imo. It's going to take him a while and utntil then, I'd rather we stick with the senior players. I honestly think our system isnt really built for a player like him. Just look at how Gini is scoring for fun for his national team.
I agree with you, I just have this impression that he think's he's at that level already and would have the balls to try and do it given the chance.

It never was though, really. VVD would be one of them. You've then got Salah and Robertson as international captains, but Salah achieved that through default of being the star player, and Robertson has run himself into the ground for us, so it's hard to really expect him to be picking up extra duties.
The issue main issue why we're desperate for 'leadership' is the rookie CB pairing and Wijnaldums frequent disappearing act when shit hits the fan. The calls for Milner would be far more subdued, but as it stands, we just never know what we're going to get.
Maybe if Klopp gave Robertson the armband then we might see a bit more fire in the side, but Klopp's never really given much of a toss about the captaincy.

Given our history they'll be wondering about that themselves. They know they can get at us, but Barcelona would have felt the same and Real know that too.
