We will not pay 10m for Dempsey so why does everyone keep quoting that figure?
True. I'm expecting it to be closer to £15mil.

Not cos he's demanded they let him leave.
No, of course not, they just decided he's not good enough anymore.
'we come not to play'
who the fuck concieved of that slogan? and what does it even mean?
Former Fulham player, Eddie Johnson viewed Clint Dempsey’s proposed move to Liverpool as a step forward in the striker’s career, and believed that the American International will be a worthy addition to the Reds squad.
The 29-year old has been heavily linked to a move to Anfield this summer. According to some reports, the Merseyside club have reportedly made an offer of 5 million pounds for the striker. Even though the Cottagers had initially put his price tag to be close to 10 million pounds, they are expected to give in to the Reds demand, keeping in view his old age and the fact that he has now entered into the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage.
If some reports are to be believed, the Anfield outfit are also close to finalizing a loan deal with West Ham United for their 35 million pounds striker Andy Carroll – a step viewed by many as a measure taken by the Reds to facilitate Dempsey’s arrival at Anfield.
Johnson, a veteran of 19 games for the Whites, voiced his comments in favour of the proposed deal, and felt that Liverpool are only set to gain from it.
He posted a message on his twitter account which read, “Andy Carroll on loan to west ham. Looks like its opening up space for my boy @clint_dempsey. Dempsey will be a great contribution to Liverpool. #topplayer.”
The American International was the highest goal scorer for Fulham in their impressive 2011/12 campaign, netting 17 goals in 37 league appearances.
Nevertheless, Johnson’s tweets were met with criticism and disapproval by the Cottagers fans, who viewed them as a mean to demonize their club.
The striker moved to quell this impression by insisting that his comments did not aim any disrespect towards Fulham. He elaborated that he was just glad to know that his compatriot has been considered by one of the best clubs in the world, and he viewed it as a step forward in his career.
“Fulham is a fantastic club nothing towards the club at all. I read something and him being my mate would be happy if it happened. You people are taking this the wrong way. For any American to get the chance to play for a top club like that u wanna see it happen,” he added.

I notice that Fulham have put in a (very) cheeky bid of £2m for Jordan Rhodes. I say cheeky because quite obviously he is worth more and Huddersfield will probably expect £5m minimum. How would we all feel if we spent £5m on 29 year old Clint and Fulham replace his goals with 22 year old Rhodes for the same price.
Obviously Dempsey has proved he can score at this level and Rhodes hasn't BUT it would seem like an astute bit of business by them if they can "swap" the 2 of them for no additional expenditure.
I like Dempsey and for £5m he's probably worth a go but I reckon Rhodes for the same price could be a better option.
In fairness The Championship transfer market is as lethargic as the EPL one at present and hasn't really taken off. I reckon things will heat up a lot over the next week or so.Im very surprised that there hasnt been more talk about Rhodes over the summer.
Blackburn had a £5M bid rejected i think PesIn fairness The Championship transfer market is as lethargic as the EPL one at present and hasn't really taken off. I reckon things will heat up a lot over the next week or so.
Huddersfield have said that they wouldn't sell to anyone in their own division, whether or not they keep to that or not will probably depend on how deep Blackburn's pockets are.Blackburn had a £5M bid rejected i think Pes
Well Best is out for a while isn't he?Huddersfield have said that they wouldn't sell to anyone in their own division, whether or not they keep to that or not will probably depend on how deep Blackburn's pockets are.

They'll defo end up buying a stroker
Say what?Rumours say that Roma are now in for him and we could lose out. No doubt some people on here would be happy. But as I think he would give us something extra, I have a feeling being who we are in terms of big spending - I think if Fullham demanded £25M for him - we would have bought him by now. I think the price of £10M for a proven PL player is just to low of an asking price for us.
