If getting Dempsey meant losing Adam I'd suddenly be a lot more optimistic about this deal.

Yeah, I'd go along with that.

But I really couldn't give much of a fuck about this signing. It's more marginal gains bullshit

MARTIN Jol refused to be drawn on speculation linking Liverpool with a move for Clint Dempsey – but hopes to keep hold of Fulham's star man.

The American has been hotly-tipped for a switch to Anfield after Reds manager Brendan Rodgers publicly declared interest in the 29-year-old.

However, the Whites insists they've received no bids for the forward, who smashed 23 goals last season.

Dempsey is entering the final 12 months of his deal at the club, but boss Jol was remaining positive when quizzed about his future.

“I don't want to talk about that [speculation],” he told the Chronicle. “I love Clint, he scored a lot of goals and I want to keep him.”

The negativity regarding this player is quite overwhelming - I don't think he is a one season wonder, and I thin he will do very well in our team, and probably the best part of this guys character is that he is mentally fucking strong !!! - I mean if you want a determined player thats going to fight like a lion - Clint is your man.

He's also physically strong, an excellent athlete whom I would expect to be able to play at a high level for quite a while yet, wherever he ends up.

Hi Judge - totally agree with you - I have noticed that about him too, I have this great memory of him in an international against Italy during a world cup group match where they were reduced to 10 men but it was Clint that was causing them all sorts of shit and eventually drew the game 1-1 with 10 men against Italy.

the canarys just died, everybody out the mine

The next step is to convince yourself that because he's joining a team that's twice as good as Fulham he should score 30 goals next season.

And the retarded logic is complete.

Ignore me though, any time you can sign a 29 year old for 10m and give him big wages after his career year you've got to do it. Particularly when he'll be over the hill by the time the core of the squad is ready to be competitive.

Rumoured to have pulled out of Fulham's pre-season training camp in Switzerland to force a move.

people are always talking about players being 'warriors' and stuff but top teams don't have warriors, they have good players. it's teams like fulham who have 'warriors'.

Fulham insist decision is based purely on player's lack of match fitness. Dempsey did not refuse to travel.

Not cos he's demanded they let him leave.

No, of course not, they just decided he's not good enough anymore.
