Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

https://www.independent.ie/world-ne...lti-national-15m-ppe-virus-scam-39126332.html

An Irishman has been quizzed by detectives as part of a multi-national €15 million personal protective equipment (PPE) scam being investigated by Interpol.

The inquiry was launched after a Germany company was duped into paying over €2 million up front through a cloned website for face masks to be used for the Covid-19 crisis.

Investigators have traced money to accounts in four separate countries after the fraud was realised late last month and two other people have appeared before a Dutch court as part of the large-scale probe.

Last Friday gardai interviewed an Irish national in Roscommon on suspicion of money laundering after €1.5 million was traced to an Irish bank account which has since been frozen.

Financial documents and electronic devices were also seized by members of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) who were assisted by local gardai. The items are now being forensically examined.

Separately I know a lot of people were upset that the UK didn't enter the EU procurement bulk buying process.

Did you know nobody tendered for the contract in February ?

It had to be restarted in March. Not a single ventilator has been delivered yet as a result of it. Ireland is looking at keeping restrictions for the rest of 2020 because it's the only way we can keep people out of hospitals.

There have been lots of companies saying they're ready to produce ventilators...

Yup. But none have been delivered.
On the 30th March the Commission issued the standards that have to apply to all the various bits of equipment.

Nothing could have been produced before that.

Hmmm, red flags:

FBPE
Thinks Boris Johnson being in ICU was a conspiracy
Claims that Government want people to die and tank the economy to push through a hard brexit

Summary: mental fantasist.

You'd rather dismiss someone who's in a long line of manufacturers who were ignored in their offers to help than look at the actual problem. Weird.

There's mentalists though and there are those that believe this Tory gov are lying, murderous self-serving fuckwits.

Without the "faking Corona" jibes, which are an unnecessary exaggeration of the obvious bullshit that the gov are serving up, it's not "tin foil hat" territory when people are calling these cunts out for being lying, murderous, self-serving fuckwits. People just need to stop exaggerating with conspiracy nonsense to compound their point, everyone knows what they are.

Hopefully when the dust settles for people, it'll prompt a huge change. Brexit, the election and Covid-19 have allowed this lot to hide behind fake news as some fair game sign of the times, when it's just another adaption of their lies and propaganda.

Nah. We're handling this crisis worse than anyone else yet the govt's popularity soars. Assume nothing good will ever happen again. The worst possible outcome is the only possible outcome. Don't think things could improve or even stay the same as they are now, you’ll only be let down.

Surely those standards were already in place?? Why would they decide to wait for a pandemic to be in full swing before doing that?

Well the one that was a tweaked, simplified version of an existing ventilator was due to go into production, but having now had the benefits of longer to study the effects on patients in ITU its become clear that the ventilators need to be able to switch between modes quickly & often (due to the lungs filling with fluid & then emptying more than with other more common respiratory diseases), which that one can't, so it's off the table.

I'd guess these are the type of issues they're referring to when they mean standards for covid-19, not the existing standards (which were due to be 'downgraded' significantly in terms of medical certification to allow for faster production).

I'm just reading what the EC Commission website says.

On 27 March the European Commission proposed a total budget of €80 million for the rescEU stockpile of medical equipment.

Upon the urgent request of the Commission, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) agreed on 20 March to make a number of European standards available for certain medical devices and personal protective equipment. This action will help both EU and third-country companies to swiftly begin production and more easily place products on the internal market while still ensuring quality and a high degree of safety.

On 30 March the Commission made available guidance to assist manufacturers in ramping up production of essential medical equipment and material in three areas: the production of masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE), leave-on hand cleaners and hand disinfectants and 3D printing in the context of the coronavirus outbreak.

Yeah but people have been making and importing this shit for years. That is obviously all still fine. The problem that loads of UK businesses have is in being ignored when trying to help using existing supply chains. Meanwhile the govt gives a massive contract to Dyson, which won't be ready any time soon when they're needed.

It's fucking nuts.

LabourLeaks are a Tory plot?

We haven't got enough stuff, we've failed to order it, we haven't answered people who say they can provide it, we're in a worse state than Italy or Spain despite having much more warning, thousands of people who needn't die have already and will, but let's put that to one side and focus on Labour or who retweeted what.

This is only not weird if you're a boot licking Tory nonce.

Surely those standards were already in place?? Why would they decide to wait for a pandemic to be in full swing before doing that?

Because the Government want as many people to die as possible - without inviting scrutiny - in order to execute a Hard Brexit, reverse globalisation, introduce tougher immigration and borders, fuel xenophobia, reduce the BAME population, boost national pride and self-sufficiency and get the populace used to draconian curfews and stay-at-home measures for possible future use in a right-wing coup.

I am aware that all or some of the above has probably already been posited by Loony Twitter, but I suspect that next step will be to blame Zionists and exonerate China

I was referring to the aforementioned Labour woes being somehow weirdly convenient, like left-wing zealots need any help shooting themselves in both feet and then the face.

No-one said that you fucking weirdo

Haven't they? I have an amazing imagination.

I mean, I thought it was too fucking insane for anyone to believe that Boris Johnson was exaggerating or even faking his own illness*, but the fucking dipstick you just brought into the discussion thinks exactly that, so pardon me if I don't treat everything they claim as "likely to be totally made up bollocks" at worst, and "exaggerated versions of truth" at very best.

*Although some thought he was actually dead, admittedly

Sorry read this two or three time, and I fail to understand what you mean, please clarify for me

I immediately thought of myself when you described the person you were quoting, couldn't remember having said any of that, then scoffed at it being Tesla.

I only just spotted an hour or so ago that Donavan Reid has reposted his "My Nephew Is a Fucking Dangerously Thick Spastic" 5G story in here too!

What a top lad

Yeah I know you've got to protect our glorious leader's reputation at all costs because that's the corner you've backed yourself into, but like I say, it's fucking weird

I don't think I have ever backed his reputation, said anything that positive about him or indeed ever voted for him or his party, despite repeatedly saying that I'd prefer anyone to be PM other than Jeremy Corbyn.

I recall mentioning he could be charismatic and charming, when trying to fathom previous Mayoral success and probable voting support, but I suspect that's about the size of it, and nothing anyone would disagree with, because it's true.

Of course, you are very welcome to carry on pretending I'm his number one fan and/or a Tory lickspittle if you wish, my role here is to simply bring balance where required and make jokes about bats.

You're more outraged about what someone having a go at his ineptitude retweeted than the issue at hand. Tens of thousands of people unnecessarily dying because of said ineptitude

Dress it up however you want, it's fucking weird

Before you swallow the spin here’s every MP that voted AGAINST a nurse pay raise.
Some of whom cheered and punched the air at their 'Win'

LabourLeaks are a Tory plot?

No.. but it's good timing that Labour continue to implode. I'm pretty sure their ghouls and the likes of the Beeb will flood the media and social media with this story. While the Tory's continue to get a reprieve from scrutiny about their gross negligence that's led to people dying and stuff.
