Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

Well, two Prepper characters in Tremors probably had them. They were cool.

In fact, they saved the day.

I imagine most Preppers consider them OG heroes.

Fuck anyone who doesn't recognize them as heroes. They'd figure out a way to shoot corona with an elephant gun.

My Nonna (gran in Italian) just passed in Cape Town last night ... The family can't even fly in to bury her, and the funeral will be tiny.
Stay safe over there ... From what I'm being told, the country is united by Ramaphosa - which is good. Hopefully, you guys will come out ok from this terrible plague.

Riposa in pace.

So sorry for your loss...

India's just announced a nationwide 21 day lockdown.

Parts of the country were already on lockdown - Ive been inside for 6 days now. Now this has been mandated for 1.3 billion people.

Number of cases at the moment here are pretty low (536 with 10 deaths), but our testing numbers are also absurdly low.

People are rightly terrified - if it gets to community transmission here, it'll spread like wildfire. Our system would simply collapse.

Friend of mine got out of the US in time. Straight off plane and into quarantine with authorities calling twice a day to ensure compliance. Alongside the police going around streets issuing beatings to people.

Another friend backpacking in Botswana flown home by UK and is now free to do as he pleases in Croydon. We're idiots.

Sorry for your loss, and saddened that you are unable to attend the funeral. There maybe many people who will suffer this in the coming weeks.

Sorry for your loss boet. Terrible that the family can't be there for the burial.

Yeah, everyone seems to be behind Cyril since the announcement. It's gonna be a tough time, especially for the poor, but everyone seems to realise that it's necessary right now otherwise we could have a catastrophe here with the high HIV and TB numbers in the country.

If that is the case then it's naive to even think that it has not already spread far and wide in India. It's not like they had social distancing in place and India has huge business dealings with China (and so air travel passenger exchange). Their only hope is that temperature is indeed an inhibitor. So far it seems like it is as there is otherwise no reason at all for it not to have erupted there.

Ireland announced a few more restrictions but haven't gone for a complete lockdown yet.

Were on 1200 cases, only 7 deaths so far. So the worst is still ahead. They're predicting 600+ new cases a day next week.

Government departments are being told to prepare for four weeks of working for home so prioritise essential functions and figure out how to operate them from home.

Trump wanting to kill 2% of his population to save his hotel chain sums the whole mess up right now.

What about if we closed the stock markets, worry about them later, get the situation fixed first? If the world's leaders are chasing pointless numbers, turn the numbers off for a bit.

Trump might start pushing red buttons out of boredom - see if he can nuke the virus or something.

I’m waiting for him to call it “vaChina Virus”

The cock-knocker that’s president of Brazil seems to be intent on out-trumping Trump.

Stay safe, @dmishra . Hopefully India will draw useful lessons from the catastrophe that’s about to unfold here.

Pretty sure this is gonna get the wife's parents in the states.

Her Ma is a nurse doing visits to various GPs. She's had a heart attack, stroke and a couple of bouts of breast cancer. She also seems to be acting like a fucking clown and going out to restaurants, crowded beaches and the fucking gym. It's almost like nobody has told her what is going on.

Her Da runs the deli department in a big grocery store. Has congestive heart failure. In fairness he goes to work, has limited contact with the public and goes home.

My folks also don't seem to be taking it seriously. They're going about their daily routine by the sounds of it, with the exception of not having the grand childer. They're both in their 70s, my da is a diabetic and my ma had pneumonia a few years ago.

My sister's going to get tested today or tomorrow. She's showing all the symptoms.

The concern is she has an 18yo daughter who has a severely compromised immune system.

Ffff. Sorry for your loss LTW. Still think about my nan all the time and she's been dead twenty years.

I think when people get symptoms the best thing to do is think about how it's only harmful to a very low percentage. If you open social media it seems everyone is suffering terribly, but these are outliers.

I'm talking shit because I'd be well stressed, but that's the truth.

I'm signed off work & we're self isolating now. Harrison has had this cough since Sunday & it's gotten worse & worse.

I've had this dry tickly cough since yesterday & my headache is gradually getting worse. Only feels like a normal bad cold so far, the type of thing you'd normally try to shrug off for a couple of days.

Luke's feeling crap & has a cough now too, & Isabelle has a very occasional cough & says she feels dizzy & a bit sick to her stomach, but she's pointing to her chest, so not sure.

No temperature for any of us as of yet, but it's definitely a very contagious persistent cough, & my chest feels tight & hot when I breathe in too. Not at all pleasant, but not massively dissimilar to a bad chesty cold so far.

Meanwhile, this is London yesterday morning.

In "Lockdown" apparently...
