Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

I'm signed off work & we're self isolating now. Harrison has had this cough since Sunday & it's gotten worse & worse.

I've had this dry tickly cough since yesterday & my headache is gradually getting worse. Only feels like a normal bad cold so far, the type of thing you'd normally try to shrug off for a couple of days.

Luke's feeling crap & has a cough now too, & Isabelle has a very occasional cough & says she feels dizzy & a bit sick to her stomach, but she's pointing to her chest, so not sure.

No temperature for any of us as of yet, but it's definitely a very contagious persistent cough, & my chest feels tight & hot when I breathe in too. Not at all pleasant, but not massively dissimilar to a bad chesty cold so far.
Man that doesn't sound good at all. Hopefully it's just a bug going around and not C-19. That said you are all young so optimistically even if it is C-19 it will just be mild case for you all and pass quickly.

Yeah, everyone seems to be behind Cyril since the announcement. It's gonna be a tough time, especially for the poor, but everyone seems to realise that it's necessary right now otherwise we could have a catastrophe here with the high HIV and TB numbers in the country.

Thanks heavens the white middle class mobilised so quickly on social media.

Without all their bitching about how our useless government would do nothing except fuck this up, who knows what Cyril would have done.

Cheers.

Gave Isabelle Calpol & she was back to her usual self within twenty minutes, which is ace.

If this is covid-19 (no real way to check, although the fact we've all got it so soon definitely suggests it's way more contagious than a normal cold or flu, which has never got us all practically at once) then it definitely doesn't hit kids as hard at all, cos paracetamol isn't helping me too much, although it's still not much worse than a bad cold, I am a little worried that my chest feels warmer by the hour though.

Gonna go sit in The Lying Rag on the garden for a bit, hope it helps.

Considering they're mostly responsible for the spread so far in the country, it's the least they could do. 😉

Jokes aside, I have to say that Health Minister Mkhize has also impressed me with the way he's been handling this.
Let's just hope and pray we get through this without it running wild in the kassies but with Sandton having the highest numbers, I'm worried about Alex.

Latest (unofficial) news in Ireland is that all the latest cases have been household transmissions, meaning that we could be out of this sooner than expected, but would need to shut down the borders or quarantine anyone coming in.
That simply doesn't seem feasible (is it from Trump's playbook)? Most medical sources agree that due to asymptomatic and mild cases the actual figure of infected could be anywhere from x10 - x50 higher so how could they know?

Ace mate.

Unfortunately now Isabelle has gone downhill massively in the last hour. She's got a really high temperature too (sadly can't find the fucking thermometer but she's properly roasting).

Sorry to hear FFF. Take care of yourself and the family.
Wishing good health to you all.

Yep, they can only know on the cases they've checked. And I added in the conclusion myself. Will see if it holds true in a few days and weeks

I'm currently cleared as a key worker.. as I am involved in delivering an IT Project for the public sector..

So Far two site have been shut down because of 4 confirmed cases of Coronovirus..

1 of the site is fine because they have the ability to work from home..

However the other base, no such luck as it's the subcontractor site the company we are taking over from

We where suppose to be moving the kit including the DC from that floor to the new client operations this weekend, where we will then continue to support.. another company is taking over the call center, however we will support the infrastructure and EUD..

Now it's been decided our client is taking over the tenancy and business will resume subject to a deep clean on Monday..

You can imagine not very many people are happy about this, many will be demanding to self quarentine anyway,, and like wise the potential risk for ourselves in moving the kit who will be new to the site.

But from a project point of view it makes the transistion a whole lot easier, albeit the move will be delayed. why this approach wasnt done from day 1 I will never know..

We where expected to take over a contract, a government contract without a cross over period, so you can imagine the politics involved with obtaining information about the service from the outgoing supplier, even through official channels..

Now those who are TUPE over to the company I work for will be able to share that information without restriction, and transition and planning to the new premises should be a whole lot smoother..

Silver lining and all that jazz

Just to add public sector key workers are treated like dogs..

What you hear with the nhs with lack of testing and PPE and exposure to those who are ill, yep pretty much the same across the public sector, seems to be a massive disregard for health and safety in the public sector, particular those in the front line..

Bit Shocking Really, given imho the public sector should be setting an example in following government advice..

But the service I work for is a needs must service..

What your seeing on the front line now is pretty much what you would expect if we where at war..

25,,000 undergraduates thrown in the front line at the NHS without full training, relevant PPE and testing and increasingly at risk of infection.. Anyone with suspected symptoms - PPE not to be used unless officially diagnosed..

Will these undergraduates have the mass amounts of Debt they been forced into by a Tory Government.. wiped out? na... Not a chance, off into the frontline you go without relevant protection and testing.

However if you are a prince with minor symptoms.. is a different matter altogether..

Shits getting real.. London will be Italy this time next week...

I just hope to god up here we avoid the worst of it on Merseyside.. Though I suspect we won't as many are dropping like flies for the company I work for already.. Many where traveling in from all over the country and some that are well are still doing so, due to the nature of the contract..

We are down to bare bones operation

My little boy had a temperature that wouldn't shift for a few days. We took him to hospital and they diagnosed an upper respiratory viral infection that could be Corona. However, they did not test him. I highly doubt it was but can't rule it out 100%. Anyway it has developed into a fairly standard cough but he seems a lot better now. My wife and I haven't had any symptoms so far - apart from the standard I've got Corona when I feel a tickle in my throat!

Did I tell this board I got a minor kicking by some Madrid fans a couple of weeks ago? It was no big deal and I was embarrassed about the whole thing for some reason, but if they've given me the Miley I'll be well pissed off. I'm still dizzy coz of it, it comes and goes, and when it comes I get the fear that I'm about to die.

Shit mate, sorry to hear that. Fucking arseholes. I had heard that there was some trouble from some of their fans in town, but then loads of them were here dead early & seemed sound by all accounts.

I was getting off the train home from London on Tuesday night and got jumped. Only a couple of digs but something happened to my ear, so I'm all wobbly. It comes and goes, so when it comes back and I feel like I'm gonna fall over I get a second of Miley panic. Then I remember dizziness isn't it. What I mean is, everyone is well jumpy over symptoms now. Mrs woland just went for a lie down because she's tired, she never does that. I don't know whether to just set fire to the bedroom now so I can move on.

Like you said, most people get mild symptoms, so I'd try not to focus on the bad news too much.

This isolation shit is hard for everyone, if it weren't for memes & whatsapp groups I'd be climbing the walls by now. Well, not literally, I don't feel well enough to climb, but I'd be thinking about climbing the walls.

Fucking wha? Does Skully know about this? I would offer to kick their fucking heads in for you but I'm in Athens and they're in Madrid so I can't do it.

Sounds like a perforated eardrum or something. I had a whopping ear infection once and sudden attacks of dizziness made the floor suddenly feel like I was on the Titanic and tilted about 45 degrees, so I looked off my head on Spice half the time.

Ah fuck, that sucks. Fuckers.

Just in case you decided to get that Oculus, don't use it while you've got the dizzies.

Hope he's right but he also called Simon Harris a first class health minister. FG have done well throughout this to be fair but that's a fairly misleading statement.

Yeah, no idea if this lad has an agenda, Harris is probably his boss. But, clinging to the hope that he's right about this. We'll see in a few weeks I guess.

If that is the case then it's naive to even think that it has not already spread far and wide in India. It's not like they had social distancing in place and India has huge business dealings with China (and so air travel passenger exchange). Their only hope is that temperature is indeed an inhibitor. So far it seems like it is as there is otherwise no reason at all for it not to have erupted there.
Can't be certain. Schools, offices and public places have been shut for about 10 days now, and the borders began to effectively be sealed in the first week of March.

Total official cases are still 606, though testing numbers still remain very low (some 20,000 odd people tested so far). Authorities are insistent that community transmission has not yet begun, and we're still at Stage 2.

The body of evidence suggesting that warm weather stops the virus spreading does seem to be growing though. That's the real hope. The temperature's now in the 30s in most parts of India, and should be hurtling towards the 40s very soon.

It's coming up on near 4 months of virtual quarantining for me and the wife and I think we're starting to go stir crazy.

I damaged my achilles heel end of November and was confined to bed to keep the foot elevated, the Doc said 4-6 months to heal, and then after a month the C-19 started and I was semi-quarantined in Wenzhou (not that far from Wuhan) and then we got out of there (train) and back to Shanghai just 3 days before the total lockdown in Wenzhou, just in time for the social distancing regulations to go into effect in Shanghai!

Mid-Feb we came over to Vienna and self quarantined for 2 weeks and ended that just before the home quarantining came into effect here in Austria! We've had a couple of days out here and there (and I do walk in the nearby woods when I can, 6-7 kms x4-5 times a week) but probably less than 2 weeks out of the house in the last 4 months. Putting on weight and going nuts !

I have cancer and have to stay home most of the time anyway. I get visited twice a day from nurses who work for the Diakonis ( German ) . They dont wear masks or gloves because the firm refuse to supply them due to the cost.

That should be illegal. Sorry to hear about your cancer.
