Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

After much silent contemplation, I am afraid that violence must be done unto the old politicians who still follow the old ways. They must be cleansed from the earth with fire and blood, you must go forth and tear down their monuments, their crucifixes, and crescents, and stars, wherever you find them, incinerate all who stand in your way, and atop their ashes you must erect new idols forged in the image of the greek alphabet.

The first death in the US from Omicron, was apparently an unvaccinated person who had previously recovered from Covid. Which Peter McCullough said couldn't happen.

Rosco will never believe that if it's not properly referenced.

You need to take a screenshot of a photo of a hand-written note or something.

I'm seeing some reports that he had other serious underlying health conditions. But yeah, McCullough said you can't get reinfected.

I'm on day 3 of covid here and feeling loads better already, but I'm not telling anyone as I keep getting treats sent to my isolation zone. I could live like this. I'd deal right now to carry on like this forever.

No wonder people don't want this to end!

It's a sample size of one, which isn't much to read too much into either way, will see how it pans out over the next few weeks. Just thought it was interesting that the first death happened to be exactly what he based a lot of his thinking on.

I always thought it was a bit mad for him to nail his colours so staunchly to the mast of "you can't catch it twice." You're probably fairly well protected if you catch it and survive it, with some lasting natural immunity, but to outright claim it can't happen is more than a bit overzealous.

Thiago

Thiago had Covid in September 2020, and has tested positive again now. I’d hazard a guess he’s infected with the Omicron variant now.

I think an FOI request to the CDC showed they don't have any evidence of it ever happening.

This death is likely after the first case of covid with the earlier one being a initial false positive

There's a difference between testing positive and having covid.

He has simply tested positive in two occasions.

That's entirely possible given the huge amount of false positives that testing generates.

I do also agree with this, however.

If he just tested positive he wouldnt have stayed in isolation or been out with illness for 23 days last season. He would have been out once it was confirmed as a false positive, i e Son last season.

If he isnt back against Leicester tomorrow then you can be pretty certain its not a false positive this time either.

I just mean that there are lots of false positives. My aunt had one the other week. I dunno about Thiago, not gonna speculate.

So what's the deal with OMNICROM?

Loads of cases but will it hit and overwhelm the hospitals? It hasn't in South Africa, so that's room for some optimism surely?

Is this phase one of the of the virus reducing in severity and becoming more and more like the common cold, or is it too early to call?

Optimism seems rational at this stage - it's been over 3 weeks and there are less people in hospital despite this surge in cases. Could still go bad, but fingers crossed

He shouldn’t be in the squad anyway. We’ve got bigger goals than the league cup.

Once this has gone, there'll be the next variant to be terrified about.

Yeah, but thats beside the point in this matter 😉

Apparently we wont risk the infected players against Leeds as we want to be careful with their form and wellbeing (Lijnders presser today), so if Thiago isnt available against Leeds. Then it wasnt a false positive.

He’ll be in the squad if he’s negative and fit enough.

999 deaths England since the start of the pandemic in those under 60 without underlying health conditions. And within 28 days of a positive test. 160 of those are 40 or under.
