Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

I, personally, would like it if none of us owned anything. That would make us all happy.

Oh but shedding all of your material possessions and wealth will not make you happy. Do you not see? It is just the first step, of the real work, shedding your mind body and spirit, giving your soul itself to the glory of science. When you are ready to give that up, to give up everything, your very life, then you will know true happiness.

That lizard Bond villain said we would own nothing and be happy. He seemed trustworthy.

I think career politicians are a big part of the issue.

100%

It's seemingly been this way, though, since the beginning of civilisation. Meanwhile, advances in technology have only served to tighten their stranglehold. I don't think meaningful change is possible.

Choose 100 people at random from all parts of society, like jury duty, who have to be the government for the year, paid their usual wage, or minimum of average wage. They make all the decisions by popular vote, with all the advisors they need. Change them every year.

I'm sure there's another few details to work out...

Didn't the Romans do something like this?

Paradoxically (and this has been lifted from Bill Burr) but if we paid politicians an absolute fortune, then they couldn't be corrupted and bribed by outside corporations? Could work.

I think paying people more, makes them more greedy.

Somebody did it before alright. Democracy just means everyone is represented, what we currently have isn't really that at all, and there's other ways to represent people's best interest. How we measure effective government is wrong too.

There is never enough money. Most people in power are sociopaths and money has no real value. They just want more and more of it.

Doesn't Singapore have one of the most transparent governments? I think there it's pretty easy to see where all the money goes. If they wanted to get rid of corruption they could use that model but sure....

I wouldn’t be happy.

None of you fuckers are taking my wine and beer!!!

That ethanol is not yours to possess. It is the divine property of the church of chemistry, and it is only their skilled hands that its consumption may be entrusted. You know this to be true my child.

Dear child, that once heretical bastion of capitalism has finally seen the light, Singapore has turned from the dark path and joined the glory of science, the covid commandments they have imposed upon their people speak to this truth.

There is no escape from the coming glory, our lords light will reach every corner of this earth, and ye all shall rejoice in it, for it is the truth and the infallible word of science that will save us all.

I fear we'll be reading about a murder suicide event in the coming days.

Dear Child, please don't take the holy musings of our Lord and Savior, Dantes the Scientist Pope, as anything bar the words of God almighty.
He will not use violence, just words to ensure all the pee brains follow truth and science one peon at a time.
Praise be his children, Amen.

After much silent contemplation, I am afraid that violence must be done unto the old politicians who still follow the old ways. They must be cleansed from the earth with fire and blood, you must go forth and tear down their monuments, their crucifixes, and crescents, and stars, wherever you find them, incinerate all who stand in your way, and atop their ashes you must erect new idols forged in the image of the greek alphabet.
