Fucking hell, somehow this thread just got even worse, and I didn't think that was possible.
Why? Don't be one of those people that just shuts down any discussion and debate because a sensitive subject is mentioned, without acknowledging nuance, context etc. Do you think what Australia is doing with regards to these camps is fine? If so, you might be right in your assessment about this thread.
And obviously it's not as severe as the Holocaust. But that's not what I was saying.
No, it's not fine. But comparing it to the killing of millions of people based on their ethnicity is not in any way similar.
I don't think anyone is doing that. I certainly wasn't.
Bringing it up at all in the thread, making any comparisons, equating it in any way, is a pretty stupid thing to do. There's a thousand other things to compare it to.
Well, it's the most high-profile, well-known instance so you can understand people immediately jumping to that. Insensitive to bring it up, yeah. Inaccurate for obvious reasons in most aspects as well. But I do also think it wouldn't hurt to bear in mind perhaps the greatest atrocity in human history when we look to be going down a dark route again. We just need to be wary of some of the terrible things we have done as a species and where decisions certain people are making could potentially lead.
Wasn't that one of the tactics Hitler used? He was obsessed with cleanliness and often used propaganda to suggest that Jews were the cause of Typhus and other diseases

This “narrative” that Australia is “terrifyingly mental” is quite interesting - where is that coming from?
I’m a lot more scared and suspicious of someone suddenly raising mistreatment of aboriginal people as being something driven by COVID. All of a sudden it’s like the holocaust is it?
There’s also a lot of nonsense getting spouted over the quarantine facilities being built that I don’t quite get.
It’s not exactly some sort of mass internment facility with harsh conditions and zero facilities.

The Tories are pushing through a bill which technically removes NHS legal obligation to provide health care for all

However, the official stats suggest we are better placed than our European neighbours.
The strategy is we will need to jab our way out of this mess. What was previously a double jabbed approach.
Turned into a triple jab for the most vulnerable, into a quadruple jab within 12 months, all before some countries have had 1 jab.
