Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

The Times reported this morning that 90% of the people in critical care in the UK are unjabbed, but didn't provide a data source. I can't see that being right.
It does look like they used data from mid 2021, although the way NHS compile info on vaxed vs unvaxed means it's difficult to get up to date info.

The overall point that it's the unvaccinated that's putting unnecessary pressure on the NHS and is the main reason other treatments are being cancelled stands though.

I always bang on about it too, but it's such an egregious wrong to me and not enough is made of it... but dying from any cause within 28 days of a positive test going down as a covid death is fucking retarded. Likewise, if you're in hospital for something else and happen to catch the virus, you go down as a covid hospitalisation. Surely there's a better way of calculating these figures. As it stands, everything is geared towards portraying worst case scenario
It's been explained to you multiple times that 28 days is only one of the measures used. The death certificate is another (and is higher than the 28 days stat, so 28 days not the worst case you claim) or use excess deaths to work it out.

It'll cripple the NHS is another one thats annoying.
That's been crumbling for decades.. chronically underfunded and mismanaged.. yet omg covid.

I don't get the rationale for the change with Gps and the focus around dropping diabetes and other patients..

Plus vaxxed v unvaxxed but stil there's not been a discussion around co-morbidities and hospitalisations/deaths etc.

the variants are becoming milder

There is no evidence for this at all. Delta has seen less deaths than Alpha because of the vaccines, despite all the evidence showing Delta is a worse variant.

Whether or not Omicron causes milder disease is just speculation at this point.

What's a worse variant also..

And again I've said this before, it's obv maths and I'm obv not smart enough to get it.
But the whole issue with Rona in the first place was it's more contagious and therefore spreads quicker than anything else..
But then we had a new variant and it was even more contagious and more infectious...now this is even 20% more..
So all the maths added up ummmm where we at now?

We're at boosters every 3 months. And in a few months that timeframe will probably shrink too. I'm sure these new variants are the fault of the unvaccinated, too

Again, no evidence for this.

Right now the most likely is once a year after having the first booster. Depending on evidence of immunity waning.

Javid literally said a few days ago that he's recommending the time period between booster jabs be halved from 6 months to 3 months.

Agreed. Nothing is certain at this point. But it's unlikely.

I think it's extremely likely. There will be a vaccine tailored specifically to the omicron variant before long and people will be told they have to get that.

Except the evidence so far is that current vaccines work fine with Omicron. So your "extremely likely" is conspiracy speculation.

I was reading something on why people believe in conspiracy theories and one of the biggest reasons is ego. It tends to be smart people who haven't been as successful as they think they should be in their career, and are latching onto something that will make them feel like they are ahead if the game and smarter than other people. @dantes you ok hun?

I don't think it's conspiracy theory to be wary and question the motives of the psychopaths in charge of pharmaceutical companies and in government. Assuming they have our health and interests at heart seems infinitely more irrational to me.

They couldn't give a monkey's about our best interests but they could about their own, and they need a functioning world to serve those. I happen to agree that there's more than likely a good deal more to all this than meets the eye, but the jump from that to "Taking the vaccine is more dangerous than not taking it" when the massed ranks of medics and scientists - not all of whom, or even close to all, can realistically be part of any such conspiracy - are saying the mirror opposite makes no sense to me.

I'm inclined to agree totally.

I think that thinking pretty much every government and medical professional are all colluding on this, is pretty much the definition of a conspiracy theory. Doesn't mean there isn't some elements of truth in it.

I think you should be worrying about how conspiracy theorists outsmarted you. If they had outsmarted me then I'd not be ok, I'd be fucking far from ok. Alas I have no such worries and never will.

There is no chance whatsoever that I'm clicking on that and listening to randoms on youtube. I'll leave the rabbit holes to you Internet experts.

If you want to summarise the claims, and more importantly a legitimate, scientifically valid source, I'll happily engage.

He's a doctor going through the initial data that has come out of South Africa. He even provides a basic summary in the first few minutes. You can watch the whole thing for sources etc.

He has over a million subscribers, and his videos on a variety of different medical subjects have hundreds of millions of views.

He offers fair and balanced information in the videos I've seen. He has a background of teaching nursing in universities in the UK, as well as Asia and Africa. He's not a conspiracy theory nut.
