Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

You clearly have little to no idea how meat is prepared for the Western market. Suggest looking on PETA's website for an eye-opener.

Are they kept squashed into cages next to wild animals and slaughtered by a peasant with one tooth and a filthy knife?

Or are you suggesting that animal husbandry and slaughtering processes in the UK and US are of the same amazingly high standard as the Wuhan clan wet market?

Official stats out of China suggest that, on average, 1.2 billion bats are consumed safely for each one that causes a global pandemic.

PETA are a shower of bastards.

I've no doubt that there are abattoirs which don't follow the correct procedures, but lots of abattoirs do. I would say most of them do, while the inspector is there anyway.
They are extreme but there is no denying the video they shoot is proof of inexcusable cruelty and it's far too widespread but profitable so little to nothing is done. The West loves to point fingers whilst shitting their own bed.

Brendan believing his imagination is real again. BTW you are racist. Clearly.

Mmmmm, zoonotic diseases! Tasty!

I actually love Chinese food, in fact it's my favourite (obviously the UK/westernised version that isn't foot/ spleen/ rat-oriented).

Would rat make nice Buffalo wings?

Your notion of the future is rather more optimistic than mine. Apparently roasting the rat destroys much of its nutritional value, perhaps you should familiarise yourself with a more efficient process before the end is upon us.

I'm not sure you are capable of discerning between what people actually post and your imagination.

Hahahaha. so....you admit it then.

Why so protective? I wouldn't care so much, unless I was addicted to bat toasties.

I don't really eat Buffalo wings for their nutritional value.

Maybe we don't need all those people ?

Anyway, the Spanish Flu seems to have originated in China too.

That's a very interesting article. Cheers I'm going to read up on that. Though of course it is at this stage only a theory and as the author himself says :-

"What we really need is a sample of the virus preserved in a burial for the medical experts to uncover," Humphries says. "That would have the best chances of settling the debate."

I'm surprised they haven't been able to find one.

Wait, so we need to accept third world countries eating monkeys in wet markets, and any subsequent outbreak of a zoonotic disease that kills millions is OK?
The only zoonotic disease that has killed millions is Swine Flu .. from the West to the world.

If you have a better suggestion as how to feed millions of people I'm sure World Health are all ears.

There's plenty of food for everyone, it's just that lots is wasted and it's not fairly distributed.

I'm sure if we went vegetarian, or even largely vegetarian we would have even more to go around...

I have to say I love my steak .... however removing cows from the world would provide land for far more productive crops (and at a far lower cost to the world in terms of greenhouse gases per m2). I could probably survive without beef.

Ninety percent of my work got sacked today before these government measures were announced. Absolutely brutal.

It will be backdated to those who was on the payroll on the 28th February. I’m not sure on what industry you work in so that may not help.

Anyone up for one big blow out? Just don’t stand too close to me. I’ve got hospital grade hand sanitizers too.

There's no shortage in our local supermarket, as you can see from the beer section. What's that? 9 + 3 free? Don't mind if I do!

All other countries.. public spaces and parks closed.

UK.. free parking at all national parks.

I'd be furious if our local parks were closed. We can very safely exercise and walk around huge public spaces, without it being a risk, and to keep up being otherwise inside with kids , with all sorts of worries, the therapeutic benefits are amazing. Now plazas, city parks, places where people go to meet, rather than move? Of course they should be closed.

I'm made up the national Trust sites are open & free.

They're one of the few places families can go to & still stay 'socially distant' & (relatively) easily avoid vulnerable people too.
