Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

Wondering how much of the increase in Spain and subsequent restrictions is to ensure people stay and spend in the UK?

I looked around at a few places in the UK extortionate prices!
Turkey is ridiculously cheap on the other hand but not sure its worth the risk.

Camping in the back garden I think

Isn't this the reason why frogfish is yet to make a comment on the thread "China and the Uighur Muslims?".

But as you say, I don't want him to be in trouble as well...but will just continue to take what he says in this subject with a pinch of salt.
Ah making assumptions eh 😉

Actually I've just spent 2 weeks in Venice (with my daughter and her partner - we hadn't seen them for a year due to circumstances) and hiking in the Dolomites (with substantial drives both ways) so if you check you'll notice that my posts recently have been few and far between added to which I simply didn't want to get involved as I know that any I make in that thread will lead to yet another tete-a-tete with Rosco - regardless of whatever nature those comments take (basically a massive overreaction to a potential terrorist threat that has gone way way beyond its remit)!

I don't know about that, may be he can only post to defend the honor of China.

China arrested a bunch of people including that Dr who died on the 1st of Jan. But frogfish says China disclosed to the whole world on 3rd Jan...two days later....excuse me, but I think I'd like to side with the so called conspiracy theorists on this one.

You can side with who you like. What I don't get is how you can come to that decision when the statement was made .. wait for it ... by the AMERICANS. Fuck me some people.

An overreaction? Beyond the remit? Even I would not put it that way, not with the full power of my aspergers could I begin to consider putting it that way.

Lucky that I bothered to insert some powerful adjectives to highlight the depth then isn't it !

Fuck Turkey any time, way too close to ISIS nutjobs for my liking.

We switched our holiday from Spain to Rhodes & paid less for a way way better hotel. We go at end of August so hoping it'll run smoothly.

Bring some masks. Also Turkish ships and fighter jets will probably be interrupting things.

If things stay the way they are you'll have to wear them in all the shops too.
This was the situation in Venice and the Dolomites (drove back to Vienna a couple of days ago) ... all of the shops you enter (and restaurants unless seated) you had to wear a mask. Many wearing them on the street too. Also public sites such as The Doge, San Marco tower and other museums etc. In all the hotels we stayed in all of the hosts wore masks and in one the hosts took the food from the breakfast buffet for us - we just stood back and directed.

We got told off for not wearing them outside at the rear of a water bus (Vaporetto) with the wind blowing strongly away from us.

Ditto Dolomites where you have to wear them in all of the ski lifts.

All seems very sensible to me.

On the other hand the relative lack of other tourists was fantastic - no queues to talk of anywhere (oh yes, must wear masks in queues).

I wore a mask. Irritating piece of shit. Also you don't need a PhD in fluid mechanics to instantly understand it does absolutely nothing.

In Melbourne - we are required to wear masks at all times outside your own home.

Fun times.

Just think what it'll do for your pulling chances though - they'll go through the roof !

Yeah.... the one time a week I get past the end of the drive way.... to go food shopping.... with the missus.

This is hilarious. Who knows if it's actually true or not, who cares, it's funny.

Edit: Just seen the twatter handle, so not true. Still, it's very funny.

Brown people's fault that lockdown easing measures delayed according to Tory MP and record not set straight by Boris.

Much prefer the BAME lads quietly going about ignoring the regulations to the Tory scum building a career out of it and begging for donations. Everyone from Laurence Fox to Dominic Cummings can form a socially distanced queue and eat my shit.

Labour's Andy Burnham saying the same thing though....

Also on the Today programme, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham suggested that the rise in transmission had been caused in part by gatherings "in multi-generational households".
Asked whether he meant predominantly the Asian population of Greater Manchester, Mr Burnham replied: "Yes, I do mean that."

Yeah I don't get the outrage and the cries of racism if it's actually right that spikes are happening in these communities, perhaps down to how these communities live together and socialise. You're saving lives by bringing attention to it. What's not great is having a go at the community as a whole when you can have a look at any beach and park in the country, look at the anti mask / anti vax community and you're looking at a vast majority of white people.

‘I have not got involved in this story over the weekend because it is a Westminster situation. I’ve kept my focus on the issues in the real world and the things we need to do to get a grip on this situation.

Also Burnham refusing to criticise his fellow probable paedophile Cummings.

I can fully accept multi occupancy housing issues, I can also get the maybe they don't get it.
I've been personally working and pushing this for the past 4 months, I'm not ignorant to it.

What I didn't really appreciate was the language of immigrants and Asians ain't taking it seriously when there's plenty of white Brits who ain't taking it seriously.

Don't lay the blame squarely at the feet of one community when there's plenty of other challenges including the handling by the govt.

Also, I disagree with the saving lives by bringing attention to it bit, I'd suggest the wording and subsequent headlines won't really help save lives, just make it more frustrating for millions of us working hard to ensure we follow and comply while it's ok for others to drive the length of the country at the height of it.

I think there was a recent study that showed compliance with Covid measures was correlated with intelligence levels. The higher your intelligence the more likely you were to comply.

The Asian families should all get together, draft up a generic eviction letter for their elderly grandparents, as well as their children if they're married and have kids, and then post all those hundred thousand or so letters to the local council, and see how that works out in terms of their social care budget.
