Incredible headline

You are my number one pick for the Covid sweepstake on here, via aerosols from scooping out eyes.
The wife is my bet for the first in the family though, they've identified her ward as the first point of contact for confirmed patients in the area. Plus her chronically bad chest means I reckon she'll also need some ITU time too. Joy.
All fair points. Andi is either going to have to take some tactical annual leave i reckon

Well fuck this shit cunting virus!

All booked to leave on the 21st with the missus on our 20th Anniversary trip to the Maldives and India, India just decided to shut the country down until 15th April.

Fuck fuck fuck😡😡

I hear safaris are doing good business for the obvious reasons 😉

Aren’t you lucky!

Has anyone here made any plans for a full shut down? Bought extra food etc?

Or just rolling into it with a bag of lentils and see what happens? That's my plan anyway.

I've been sort of stocking up. We've lots of pasta, rice, lentils and the freezer is filled with meat...

We’ve been ordered to work from home, cancel all external meetings and the schools are closed for the next fortnight.

Its quite insane to see how people are stockpiling food and medicine.
We’ll have to do a bit of extra shopping tomorrow.

The whole country is close to be shut down for 2 weeks.

I might have to go to the bigger supermarket that has a better selection of canned goods.

Ireland is pretty much getting shut down now too. Schools, colleges and creches for two weeks. Lots of people working from home already, probably anyone who can next week.

Somehow the Netherlands is chill at the moment. I need to make sure I can go to Liverpool this weekend and still fly back...

I'm running a big project in France next month and trying to figure out to cancel it or not is tricky...

The really fucking eye opening bit of that press conference today...

Some journo asked if Merkel was right saying that 70% of the population will get it. The chief medical officer said their figures are 80%. Then said they have the fatality rate at 1%, obv mostly elderly. The UK population is 66.44m.

That could mean more then half a million people dead from this if their figures are correct.

Looking at the way infections are increasing in Europe /USA and the UK, and the state of governance and medical care in those countries, I think the impact on the West will far outstrip anything we've seen in China.

Millions will die . And soon.

Australia starting to go into lockdown - F1 cancelled, Melbourne International Comedy Festival cancelled, from Monday gatherings of more than 500 people to be stopped, Flight Centre closing stores.

I think I’m being told to work from home from next week - which fortunately is easy and I’m probably in one of the few positions that might do well out of this whole shit-show.

Are you really this fucking thick? What a dumb, insensitive post.

Wasn't gonna say anything in response to that but agree. It's a disgrace, frankly.

I honestly can't imagine being that bitter that I would be happy that other people's families die, just because they put a cross in a different box to the one that I did in an election. There we are though.

A joke's a joke, which I'm sure in all its stupidity, it probably was, but besides politics or football allegiances or whatever else, there are probably people effected directly or indirectly on here, so yeah.. let's show some level decency and sensitivity.

I'm not trying to be a killjoy, but when I see idiots on social media this morning praying the league is voided so we don't win it, justice for Heysel and all kinds of other hate fueled agendas, we're better than that shite.

Working in a school, I'm expecting the same, particularly as we work with vulnerable kids and they come from a broad area of the North West and North Wales. There's not much we can do from home though, other than keep on top of admin that doesn't include sensitive data.

We've already had one near miss, a load of sensible parents who've taken the necessary precautions and one idiot who could have caused an enforced lock down. If you think of that on a larger scale with other businesses, schools etc across the country, it's easy to see how much disruption it will cause, never mind the actual spread of the virus due to the idiocy of individuals.

I think it's a bit harsh talking about people being 'idiots'

Half the fucking country have coughs and colds. I've got asthma, and allergies, so I am snuffling, wheezing, sneezing and coughing for 9 months of the year (well, it seems like that sometimes)

The majority of people self-isolating now haven't got anything more than a bad cold or mild flu, and there will be more than a few who've had the virus and didn't notice.

The thing is though that I would be lying if I said that every single time I don't feel well, I stay at home. I don't, I tend to just try to carry on as normal. I suspect most people are the same. It is asking for a huge behaviour change to ask people to self isolate on the back of symptoms that they have always worked through without giving it much of a second thought.
