Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

The sad thing is.. this virus is probably rife in Africa.. as is the flu virus killing people every day..

Yet it will not get covered with the attention we are seeing else where.. and will not get access to vaccines when they eventually become available..

Of course it’s fucking rife in Africa, isn’t everything! All those young aspiring footballers must be in panic mode.

@doctor_mac what did you decide to do with your investment portfolio ?
I'm doubling down on the cruise ship industry. People will soon realise as this virus sweeps the world that if we check people going onto the ships they'll actually be the safest places to be.

We've invested heavily in rice and pasta

4% mortality in the US and China? Kinell. Wonder if that's skewed because it was predominantly old people in both regions that got it and they're much more likely to be doomed.

In the US common sense suggest the fact they haven't got enough testing kits & the cost do tests due to private healthcare means the rate of people who have it & are undiagnosed being massively underestimated.

Even when it blew up in China UK med labs/Unis were saying the number infected was likely x10 because for most it's nothing more than a cough or a cold or no symptoms at all. So the mortality rate could easily be as low as 0.4%.

I was reading someone on twitter who were pretty certain they had it, they were a medical professional who'd been in China and knew all the symptoms, but the hospital wouldn't test them because just as they were going to they got guidelines from their health department to say don't. She didn't know why but was pretty sure it was about the numbers. It's probs massive in general populations already and that's why I'd guess the death rate is much lower, but Fabio defo knows better

I'm on about average age of 81. That's seriously high. I mean if one 50 year old dies, three 90 year olds need to to level things up.

Iran has temporarily released 70,000 prisoners in a bid to contain coronavirus in the country.
Mizan news agency quoted judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi as saying: "It is necessary for the temporary release of prisoners to continue... so long as it does not create insecurity in society."
He said that priority would be given to prisoners who face greater risks as a result of pre-existing health conditions.
The head of the country's Prisons Organisation stressed that "health conditions are completely under control".

Listening to people's opinions on this is making me root for the virus. Just heard someone saying they think it's being played up so people panic buy as the economy needed a boost.

It's a lot easier once you realise you support the virus. It's gonna win, it's inevitable. I feel like someone who started supporting Citeh 5 years ago

The Greek Orthodox church is trying its best to kill its most devout followers.

He gave them toilet paper with the words this is my body. He gave them hand gel with the words this is my blood.

FFS @Mors why did you listen to Dantes !

Gold hit a seven-year high, trading at $1,700 per ounce

I didn't, I bought the coins. Going to sit this out until Corona passes now and hope that gold price rises enough to cover the margin on sell back, that I would normally getting back as dividends and organic growth.
Glad I bailed when I did, the markets have took another kicking today, they've shut the s&p, ftse down 7%, and I'm guessing it's going to continue all week at a minimum.

BUT, if I'd had the balls to short the market even just the FTSE, including my trading spread, I'd probably be up 6% alone today, so he was right. It's not for the feint hearted though.

The panic hasn't really hit here yet, well everyone is talking about it but no one has started panic buying yet. I'm going to slowly stock up on essentials, like beer and crisps. I done the same when it looked like Greece was going to crash out of the Euro, I emptied our bank accounts before the panic hit and I laughed to myself at all the suckers queuing up for ages at the bank machines.
