The very fact that they fervently believe that old bollocks shows how extraordinarily gullible and open to suggestions they are. Put a nutjob in power and anything is possible.

Joking aside, I've got a theory that starting with Reagan, they've been putting in obvious clowns to see how they would be accepted (or not). If they are then they would install a dictator down the line.

Don't you know that the western company take each and every single phone apart and inspect them under a microscope for viruses before putting them back together again and selling them to us? That's why they're so much more expensive.

Of course it would be. But that's not the only reason I don't own any Chinese branded devices or white goods; I don't like cloned, sub-par products.

China are totally spying on everything, through phones, computers, anything with smart written on it. What brand your phone is makes zero difference to any of it. Every single privately owned communication satellite that's sending all your shit, everything you do, from point to point, is made of Chinese components. GCHQ and the NSA are also harvesting that much data they don't know what to do with it. The stable hasn't even got a door.

I love the fantasy of using a device not made in China and therefore being safer from data interception and harvesting.

Brendan must have one of those good ol' British ISP's that route all their traffic via network equipment not made in China.

To get the spychip physically installed on a component, and feed it up through the supply chain, is difficult and risky. If Xi pulls that off, then you applaud and say well done you communist son of bitch, you got me, well done. That is very different to buying a finished product from a chinese company, or installing a chinese app, or chinese software onto your pc. That's no longer worthy of a round of applause, it's you just being the biggest idiot you can possibly be, who deserves to have all their bank accounts uploaded onto the darkwebs.
 
The other difference is you can take apart your iphone. Look at it, get an expert ot look at it. If there is something in there that shouldn't be, your next stop is the royal courts of justice and a big fat settlement. If you took your xiaomi or huawei phone apart and found these chips, you can melt it down and sell the bonus mettle for 0.025p. I'd prefer the first settlement.
