- Emre Can is a player. I love the slick bastard. More machismo dripping off him than Razor Roman. I love his now customary foray up the pitch. He relieves pressure with his big fuck off marauding gallop up the field. You'd need a brick wall to try stop him when he picks up the pace. The wall would be left shaking with a giant Emre Can shaped hole in the middle of it. I love him. His inexperience and naivety in a new position will obviously mean that he makes the odd mistake but I can forgive him for that.
- Fair play to Simon Mingolet for turning a corner. I thought he was dead and buried. Not sure how he picked himself up from rock bottom but he seems a new man. He is confident and dare I say it, commanding.
Costa 'stamps' accidental - Mourinho
28 January 2015 Updated 00:16
Diego Costa has been booked nine times in 28 matches but has not been sent off for the club
Diego Costa's alleged stamps during Chelsea's Capital One Cup semi-final win over Liverpool were "absolutely accidental", says boss Jose Mourinho.
Costa trod on Emre Can and Martin Skrtel in a second-leg tie that saw the Londoners progress after extra time.
Mourinho insisted the Blues striker was blameless, claiming he was only "looking to the ball".
But Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said: "He has this edge to him. With Emre Can, that was poor, I felt."
The first-half incident involving Can took place close to the technical area and prompted an angry response from the Liverpool player.
Rodgers felt Costa could have avoided treading on his player.
"He could easily hurdle over the young player and he directs his studs right on to his ankle, which could've been nasty," said the Reds boss.
"Again the one with Martin Skrtel. There's no need to do it. That's the sad thing. He's a top-class player and he's clever enough that the officials don't see it."
If he is banned, the Brazilian-born Spain international would miss Saturday's Premier League clash with second-placed Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Costa was involved in three of the game's main talking points - he also had a penalty appeal turned down when tripped by Skrtel.
After the match, Mourinho accused an unnamed television pundit of having a "campaign" against his player.
"I think maybe you are already influenced by... I'm going to use a word which put me in trouble but I think this time I cannot be punished to say that there is a campaign on the television with a certain pundit that is saying Diego Costa 'crimes'," said Mourinho. "This guy must be nuts.
"Great campaign. We know how much that pundit loves Chelsea and particularly loves me.
"These guys, they have a very good seat, very good money, no pressure. They are always right. They never lose, they always win, but they have to be fair and they have to be honest.
"Forget it. Let's go to Wembley. Come on. I don't know his name, because when I see him I switch off the television."
Mourinho, who admitted to missing the goal due to a discussion with fourth official Phil Dowd, appeared to be involved in a row on the touchline with Liverpool counterpart Rodgers during a fiery second half.
Mourinho described himself and Rodgers as "very different people".
He added: "He worked in Chelsea in my time for a few years. I don't know if he learned something with me or not. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't.
"I could speak about Skrtel, I don't. He goes to the television, he speaks about [Chelsea keeper Thibaut] Courtois. He forgets [Liverpool keeper Simon] Mignolet. I speak about Courtois and Mignolet.
"He forgets his goalkeeper. I don't forget my goalkeeper, because my goalkeeper helped me to be in the final.
"He is what he is. He is a fantastic manager, but we are different people."
But the Liverpool boss said: "There is no problem. It's a competitive game between two top sides and the chimp comes out every now and then."
Any idea what Mourinho is talking about regard Rodgers not talking about Mignolet?
You can shuffle your cards & play as many jokers as you want (lord knows Rodgers has a few jokers to play) but at the end of the day if the cards you're dealt aren't good enough....
Mourinho have a few rather direct digs at Rodgers, could this please be the end of their fucking bromance.

Rodgers pointed out the Costa stamps and Mourinho was miffed that he was criticizing his player. So he went at Rodgers by saying that both Courtois and Mignolet did well, suggesting that when he mentioned opponents, he was complimentary while Rodgers was just being bitter / sour.
The gulf in quality between our attacking midfielders and our strikers is now quite large. And that's even with the relative lack of experience the attacking midfielders have.
When Sturridge comes back he's our best player, unfortunately there's only one of him.

Balotelli has the ability but not the brain
It's such a tragedy, he could be world class.
Can is an absolute monster. I'd love to see him play as DM, He's more mobile and faster than Lucas (who was superb over the 2 legs so I'm not knocking him), better in the air, can really pick a pass and is incredibly powerful when he charges forward (just wish he'd lay it off earlier rather than inevitably losing it in or around their box). Would love to see him go head to head with the likes of Toure, Matic, Wanyama etc.
Sky Sports understands Oliver will be asked by the Football Association on Wednesday whether he or any of his colleagues saw the incident: if the answer is 'no' that will open up the possibility of retrospective punishment.
Under Premier League rules an independent three-man panel assesses video replays before deciding on any action, but League Cup regulations are different and the final decision is the referee's.
That means Oliver would be asked to assess the incident retrospectively. If in his judgement Costa was guilty of a straight red-card offence the Spain forward would be charged with violent conduct.
Costa would have until 6pm the following day to contest the decision, and a hearing would then be fast-tracked. If found guilty he would receive an automatic three-game ban missing the fixtures against City, Aston Villa and Everton. Whatever the outcome, there would be a resolution before the visit of Manuel Pellegrini's men.
I thought the Ref done ok myself.
But we didn't win, so people have to find some sort of reason for that dont they?

You often post this line of thinking Pete and I don't think it's fair. I think it's okay to comment on the ref's performance without using it as an excuse for losing.
I just like to wind people up. Just call me Diego.
Has anyone got decent highlights? Trying to track them down for a friend living abroad. Where is good to get them?
Can we unban Modo for ten mins? He was good for something. 😉
