Cheick out this guy

If Palace are happy to double their money in a year then could be a good deal. They're well within the rights to request £60m-£70m, though, and there has to be a point whereby paying the PL tax just becomes a farce. We really value PL/CL experience in our targets, but we may have to become more flexible and take more risks and prices continue to escalate. At this stage of the window is clearly makes sense, but hopefully the links to the likes of Andre show we are open to alternative profiles of players to get the most bang for our buck we can.

If we end up with amrabatshit I'm done. So sign this guy ASAP.
I'd take both at this point.

Amrabat is a solid (albeit not the most inspiring) option, he will do a lot of the dirty work....no reason why we couldn't get performances out of him like at the WC or in the ECL final.

Bajcetic, Doucoure, Amrabat, Thiago, MacA, Szobo, Jones is a good selection to have.

We'd need more than just Doucoure anyway, so whoever that 2nd player is.....they're not exactly gonna be Caicedo/Tchuoameni level good are they?

He's not a bad player, but I'm not particularly excited.

On the positive side, his defensive numbers look good, he looks physically ready to play big minutes, he's a big unit and players seem to bounce off him.

On the flip side, his lateral quickness doesn't seem to be great, and he doesn't look particularly quick at receiving and turning either. Now these issues plagued Fabinho too, but Fabinho compensated by elite-level anticipation and positioning, excellent feel for passing, and top-tier numbers at both aerial and ground duels.

This guy has worryingly poor passing numbers. The modern no. 6 is involved in maybe the maximum amount of passing sequences. If that's a weakness with this guy, the opposition press of top level sides will absolutely throttle us.

I mean Klopp has form for transforming non-elite talents into top class players, but then this is a player we'll be paying top dollar for. If he were a 15-20 million signing, I'd be all for it. But I'm uncomfortable spunking 55-60 million on a guy whose overall ceiling I have reservations about.

Maybe we have to do do a double pivot.
---------Nunez
Diaz------------Salah
--------Soboss
Macca - New Sheik

But he does look a bit cumbersome

At Lens, Doucoure plays in a 352 system (usually partnering Seko Fofana - another who may be on PL teams wishlists), and he is a key pillar in how this system operates.

Dropping in and destroying
Doucoure performs a few different roles in this Lens side:
  1. BLUE: He drops into the backline to give the foundation to Jonathan Clauss to raid forward from RWB. Clauss is one of their key attackers and the extra cover from Doucoure is vital
  2. YELLOW: His main job as a midfielder. Providing that defensive screen for his centre backs and disrupting opposition acros the midfield by using his Inspector Gadget like legs to win the ball back in a crunching challenge or intercept the ball.

The sheikh is still wondering how the table was brought in the dining room the width and the length can't squeeze through the door.

Those who watched him playing for Lens speak very highley about the level of talent he has, and how good he was in all parts of the game not just the defensive side.
I'm very positive in terms of how he complements Mac Allister and Szobo.

He's 23, has the right size and the attributes and the potential to be a great player. He has also got 1 year of experience of the league and won Palace player of the year. A big reason for their defensively sound numbers.

The fee will be inflated. We've left it late, Palace dont need to sell and they know we have the money to spend. But it is what it is. If he's the right player then I dont care if he's 60-65 mill. The team will be so much better with the right addition.

Dont kid yourself. This year's AFCON finals will be Mali vs Egypt. Every knockout game involving them will be 120 minutes plus 20 minutes of injury time + penalties. That is how it goes.
Won't matter anyway, we'll get a clause inserted in his contract to say if Mali make it past to the quarter's that CAF have to hand him over to LFC reps.
