Time to move on

To no-ones surprise at all - he’s got the money and the assurances he wanted.

I hope there are other baskets in Jorgs kitchen with some eggs in them.

Looks like we may go with Quansah after all.

Do we even have the money for a central defender? We have waited for the Henderson and Fabinho money to be deposited in our bank account before making a close to being accepted money for Lavia.

Would be disappointing if we didn't get one as Klopp has said he would like one brought in, but don't think it'd be a season definer if we stuck with what we have. Not ideal but we do have 4 senior CB's on our books and that's usually what any one club has at any time.

We need 2 defensive midfielders.

Always feel like we have to wait for players to go out before we do anything. Waited around for 3 weeks because we didn't know what was going on with Hendo and Fab, 3 weeks wasted when we couldn't had our 3rd signing already gelling with the team.

We're not getting a central defender. I have moderate confidence we land Lavia (sorry @Fabio, you need to close this deal soon) but, if we get a defender, it will be in the discount bin (like an eastern European binman, perhaps).

Yeah - looking that way.

Maybe that’ll be our January splurge.

Strahinja Pavlovic, 22 and plays for Salzburg. 6’4 and LCB. He has got it all and wont cost more than 25 mill.
Watched him live at Ullevaal when Serbia played Norway and he was very impressive.

Doesnt have to be more difficult than that, please.

Perfectly logical. You wouldn't go out and hire a new secretary just because your current secretary is considering moving but hasn't given notice. Hendo and Fab were initially not part of the Exodus.

We will wait till he joins RB Leipzig has a good season and then buy him for £65m. That's the Liverpool way don't you know

We knew for 3 weeks they were gonna leave. What more notice do you need?

3 of the 5 companies I've worked at brought someone new in to replace me when I was still there, because I was the one that had to show them how to use all the difference softwares etc.

It can work both ways, we always play the waiting game....just pray it doesn't come back round to bite us on the arse again.

But you would actively be looking for a replacement secretary if she kept getting paperwork wrong consistently and was nearing retirement age.

Clearly different scenario. Makes sense if you know for certain someone is leaving but not if there was any doubt (and there was plenty until there wasn't) and then negotiations (which have clearly been complicated because of their over valuation) obviously take time. We'll get there.

Yeah he should be on the radar

Hudson-Odoi should be at the forefront of any young player's mind when considering committing their future to Chelsea after interest from other clubs.

I'd want promises and assurances in blood.
He was never the same after that achilles injury.

Nah. Ox and Keita were deadwood. Milner was used to close out games. If we get Lavia then we effectively have a new starting midfield, plus Jones, Thiago, Badgertits and Elliott. Jones was ace for the last dozen games, and was brilliant for the U21s this summer, and will be pushing for a regular spot with Elliott. Plus obviously Trent taking up a lot of space.

There is a lot of quality in those seven, and a lot of different qualities, too.

Bajcetic might be an unknown quantity, Thiago is dead and we're still not completely sure what Elliott is. I think Jones is proper good but some would say jury's still out. And that's before any potential injuries.

An experienced versatile backup/rotation option (along with Lavia) should be coming in to take over the Milner role. I thought that was going to be Henderson before it was clear he's going for the bag

Not disagreeing with that but at some point, we need to get realistic about the parameters in which FSG operate. We spend money only if we raise money either through sales or wage releases. They are happy to lend money on favorable terms (@Beamrider please correct if I misunderstood this part) on infrastructure improvements but not for players. This coupled with the fact that our transfer team have incredibly rigid valuations which they are not willing to compromise on and occasionally they get infatuated with specific players (as dmish put it) and willing to throw seasons for it, means we need to develop a lot of patience.

Also most likely it means, we are screwed post Klopp.
