Not disagreeing with that but at some point, we need to get realistic about the parameters in which FSG operate. We spend money only if we raise money either through sales or wage releases. They are happy to lend money on favorable terms (@Beamrider please correct if I misunderstood this part) on infrastructure improvements but not for players. This coupled with the fact that our transfer team have incredibly rigid valuations which they are not willing to compromise on and occasionally they get infatuated with specific players (as dmish put it) and willing to throw seasons for it, means we need to develop a lot of patience.

Also most likely it means, we are screwed post Klopp.

You'd think the lizards learned something after the Arthur fiasco. But then again, they're American so I'm fully prepared to see them pull stupid shit like that again

They didn't learn anything after the central defense fiasco. We won the the CL and league in successive season and they couldnt arrange a decent player on loan at the beginning of the January transfer window after we went through one of the worst injury crisis ever. We were dependent on an Allison goal for qualifying for the CL. There is no point complaining about them. We now know how they operate.

They've lent money for the Main Stand, initially at a very low rate (probably passing on their coat of borrowing) and then made it interest free (best guess would be issues with tax on the interest).
My guess would be that they need approval from the wider partner group to put funding in and that is easier to sell when there's a project with a decent return - so Main Stand, loads of hospitality = good return, Annie Road and training ground not so much so they were funded from our own resources.
And by extension, player investment doesn't have a clear business case / guaranteed return so harder to sell to the wider owner group.

How fucked off do you think City will be when they realise Gvardiol has secretly inserted a clause in his contract meaning he can join us for £35m next season.

I had a look for left-footed center backs on Transfermarkt, just to see the main players out there.
One thing that stood out was that the "too short" Hincapie is only 3 cm shorter than the best thing since sliced bread reached the shores of England - Levi Colwill, and he is only one cm shorter than the holy grail, Gvardiol.

I still find it a bit of a surprise if we were really in for a CB, why we didn't try N'dicka?

Timber? Never pushed beyond interest and now at Arsenal
Van de Ven? Never pushed beyond interest and now at Spurs
Schuurs? Also never been anything beyond interest shown and it's the same with Colwill, I'm sure we thought highly of the kid but never anything substantial to the rumours.

No thanks to all 3. Plus we don't need to be looking at HG at all. We have 5 in our squad, 2 out on loan + 2 who'll become eligible from next season and 2 non HG spots we could fill.

If we bring in 1 or 2 more, I hope they will be non-HG.

If we are on the home growns, there is Kelly at B'mouth, Kilman at Wolves and a young lad at Hull.

Greaves isn't a bad shout, by any means. I watch Hull 12-15 times a season and he is the one with a big future. Plays CB, LB and DM.

Has Van de Ven really gone to Spurs ? - I thought he changed his mind because he was willing to switch to Spurs because Harry Kane plays there but changed his mind with Harry potentially leaving. Also from what I heard on the channels last night - that part-time guy we have hired as sporting director said that Van de Ven is not ready for us (i.e. not good enough for our team).

Pretty much got 1 foot through the door, it looks like Kane will be staying......he's never going to force Spurs' hands and Levy isn't exactly desperate to sell.

Don't really know much of VDV other than the little I saw at the u21 euro's....wasn't impressed and kinda glad we aren't in for him.

I have never watched him play, but just saw the English lads on the list there.

Kane has to go now, he would be stupid not to.

He won't. Utd have got their big money striker now, as do PSG (about to sign Ramos).....doubt City will renew their interest in him and let's be honest he isn't going to Saudi.

It really boils down to Bayern and I don't think Kane is 100% set on a move there otherwise they'd be further advanced in negotiations....mainly on the player/player agents side to speed things along.

He doesn't get his loyalty bonus if he force's their hand.

Does that really come into the equation when you can be earning a lot more at Bayern anyway? Plus competing for titles? All a sudden sticking around for a loyalty bonus doesn't seem so appealing but anyway it's none of our concern, we've not linked with him and he's not a CB so when are we announcing Marquinhos and Bastoni?

The names that stand out to me
Hincapie
Micky VdV
Inacio
Kilman
Lukeba
Pavlovic
Medina
Lloyd Kelly
Arthur Theate

Here's a question. If our main pairing is VVD and Konate, the one who will get injured will be Konate. So does that mean you move VVD to the right? Can Gomez do the CB role and give cover to Trent when he becomes an inverted RB? A proper number 6 will help.
I personally think we play top heavy, and need to adjust our formation

Looks like our search for a CB began and ended with a rummage down the back of the couch for some coppers!!!

Todibo is available for 30 mill €. Not left footed but a quality CB and still only 23.
Juve were after him but have dropped out given the terms set.
