CBs to start season?

So am I right in thinking that as it stands we'll start the season with VVD and Klavan at CB? That's shite. I guess the Vida links must have some validity. Although I'm not sure how decent he is either.

Well, first choice is Lovren/ Virgil, so maybe Klopp isn't so worried if that's a partnership that kicks off a few weeks late.

But yeah, Klavan worries me, and I've never rated Matip highly, so that's anther reason why I wanted us to buy a new CB. As well as not trusting Lovren either!

Klavan for first few weeks? The league could be gone by the time Lovren gets back in the side! Fuck this time off shit. Get him back to work.
 
Presume he'll go with Klavan until Lovren is back, his only other option is to risk Gomez. He needs to start giving Gomez more time at CB this season if that's the bigger picture for him, as Matip is always broken, and Klavan is journeyman cover and could retire at any moment.

With Hendo out for the first few weeks too, I wonder whether starting with a back three is an option? VVD partnered by Gomez & Klavan. Gomez showed for England that he fits well in a back 3.

I realise this has 0% likelihood. I'd expect Klavan to start but i'd prefer it to be Gomez.
 
Its not impossible, but I cant see what Hendersons absence has to do with it as Fabinho fills in for him

If fit then Matip is miles better than Klavan. Im not his biggest fan but Ive no idea where this narrative that hes a total liability has come from. Hes decent if not spectacular, good on the ball probably a bit too timid at times. Klavan on the other hand is slow, ponderous and totally out of sync with the rest of the back 4. Gomez should be 3rd choice for this season.

That’s a big ‘if’. And ‘a bit too timid’ is not something that can be said of any quality CB.

Arf.. We can't go through another season relying on him a) staying fit and b) not having his usual brainfarts in big games.

WE NEED A FUCKING CENTRE HALF.

Gomez was all over the place last season and Klavan is a capable but limited option.
 
If Chelsea decided to move Zouma on, I'd be more than happy to sign him. Still only 23, will be relatively cheap and has got so much potential. Monster of a player and would work well with Van Dijk.
 
Hopefully there is some truth in the Lassells rumours as matip is rubbish and lovren cant be relied on. Maguire is available for the Fekir money

I'd be all over zouma. I think he could still develop, and next to Virgil he could be a star
