Cavani (don't get excited)

BR will stroke his face until he submits. Like some sort of horse whisperer.

I suggested Cavani a while back but he wouldnt want to play on the wing like suarez

I think it's a good suggestion.

I also think it's probably another example of the childish fickleness of most football fans, whereby any player is only half an average season or so away from being dismissed for someone shinier. He looks to be versatile and very rounded, and you could see him doing well in a 442 or a 433.

He's a great player. PSG would have to be willing to take a hit on his fee, though, which I think they would be, because he's not exactly young. If we could get him for £35-40m then yeah, go for it.

Cavani was regularly slobbering that Suarez was too good for Liverpool and his friend needed to go elsewhere. Fuck him. Plus he's massively overrated. I don't think he's worth half of 50 mill.

I'd rather have Remy than Cavani

Loic Remy CF/LWF, 27 years old
Edinson Cavani CF/RWF, 27 years old

2010/11
Remy 34 starts, 11 sub appearances; 19 goals, 3 assists (Nice, Marseille, France)
Cavani 46 starts, 7 sub appearances; 33 goals, 8 assists (Napoli, Uruguay)

2011/12
Remy 45 starts, 9 sub appearances; 23 goals, 6 assists (Marseille, France)
Cavani 55 starts, 4 sub appearances; 35 goals, 7 assists (Napoli, Uruguay)

2012/13
Remy 23 starts, 15 sub appearances; 9 goals, 1 assists (Marseille, QPR, France)
Cavani 46 starts, 5 sub appearances; 40 goals, 5 assists (Napoli, Uruguay)

2013/14
Remy 27 starts, 8 sub appearances; 15 goals, 3 assists (Newcastle, France)
Cavani 57 starts, 8 sub appearances; 34 goals, 5 assists (PSG, Uruguay)

Besides the obvious gap in goalscoring (and appearance) numbers, keep in mind that Cavani does much more on the pitch than just scoring. He is constantly harrying the defenders, holding up the ball and creating opportunities for teammates. Whereas Remy, while he is a good finisher, doesn't offer much more than his goal-scoring.

Frankly, it's absurd even to compare these two players. Cavani is in a completely different class.

Wow, didn't realise his numbers were that good. How is he seen to have had a disappointing season at PSG when he scored 34 goals??

Sorry, some for Uruguay. How many for PSG?

He looked pretty poor against Chelsea.

Yes, he did. Short of confidence and uncharacteristically wasteful. That was the nadir of his disappointing season at PSG. World Cup was bad too, although he did make a peach of a pass for one of Suarez's strikes.

I'm not comparing them, I'm saying I'd rather have Remy than Cavani. Cavani, at £55m is completely over rated. You're looking at about £10m for Remy so comparing them like for like, as you're doing, is the absurd thing. I also think Remy would fit in better with our style of play. And I still think Cavani is shit.

That means nothing imho.
Players have poor games all the time. Cavanis numbers speak for themselves.
Class player.

PSG have already spent their transfer cap from UEFA, so they defenitly need to sell if they want Di Maria.

They've also said they'll sign who they like

Kinda sounds like you are comparing them like for like there tbh.

Say the fee was £20m, not £55m, would you still prefer Remy?

Probably. Seeing as I think Cavani is shit. It's kind of a big clue.

No need to get sarcastic when you couldn't coherently express what you meant before. First you said you weren't directly comparing them. In fact you said the suggestion that you were was absurd. It was simply their relative values you were talking about. Then you said you think he's shit again. That seemed to confuse the point you were making, so I asked a clear question to see if I could clarify it. You answered by very clearly underlining that you think he is indeed shit. Seeing as you don't seem to think Remy is shit, you must therefore think Remy is better than Cavani. That's something you already told Rurik he was being absurd for suggesting.

🙂

Stop going on, Cavani is still shit Peter. 🙂

Sky sources are reporting that Edinson Cavani has instructed his agent to investigate a potential move to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old Uruguay international joined Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli for around £55m last summer and signed a five-year contract, but now appears keen on a move away from the French capital.

And the news will be of particular interest to Chelsea and Manchester United, who have both been linked with the forward.
Cavani enjoyed a successful first season with PSG, who retained the Ligue 1 title and also won the Coupe de la Ligue, with Cavani scoring both goals in the final.

But the Uruguayan is reportedly unhappy about the way he is utilized by the club, who often deploy him in wide positions so the prolific Zlatan Ibrahimovic can play through the middle. And, while he was at the World Cup in Brazil, Cavani refused to rule out a transfer to Manchester United. Asked whether a move to Old Trafford was in his future, he said: “In football, you never know. Anything can happen. "One day you are in one team and, the next day, you can be in another."

Cavani has been capped 63 times by Uruguay and featured in all of their matches at the World Cup this summer, where they reached the second round before losing 2-0 to Colombia. Having begun his professional career with Danubio in Montevideo, he joined Palermo in Italy in 2010, before beginning a very successful stint with Napoli in 2010. He finished the 2012/13 season as the top scorer in Serie A and became the most expensive signing in French football history when he joined PSG.

Rest easy those of you who really don't want him :
Manchester Utd 11/10 Chelsea 6/1
Manchester City 9/1 Arsenal 10/1
Liverpool 14/1

320 games and 180 goals.
Yes, he's shite alright....

He'd work we'll with Sturridge aswell imho.
