Could cost him his job id say!

t was announced on Sept. 2nd that the Portuguese Anti-doping Authority (AdoP) handed a six-month suspension to national tram manager Carlos Queiroz after the agency ruled he had disrupted an anti-doping procedure before the World Cup this summer in South Africa. Portugal made it to the second round and were then eliminated by eventual champions Spain.

Queiroz is currently serving a one-month ban already that was dished out by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) due to the same offence during a World Cup training camp that was held in May. He was also fined €1,000 after he was judged to have acted in an aggressive manner towards the drug testers.

But the Portuguese Sports Institute held an inquiry and then added some time on to the punishment and sent the FPF the ruling as the FPF is Queiroz’s employer. The 57-year-old manager was set to miss out on Portugal’s first two Euro 2012 qualification games against Cyprus and Norway in early September and will now be forced to sit out two more qualifiers in October when they play Denmark and Iceland. However, Queiroz plans to appeal the suspension with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Queiroz made a statement through his lawyers earlier in the week which said: “According to some reports, the ADoP has found proof – unlike the disciplinary committee of FPF – of breach and disturbance of anti-doping activity and has determined a six-month sentence. As for me, what matters is not the decision, but the lack of any wrongdoing (as was recognised by the FPF). So I confirm that I will appeal this decision to the right institutions, namely to the CAS. I will request, based on the statutory rules of CAS, that the decision be suspended until the appeal is heard.â€

It’s not exactly sure at the moment what Qeuiroz did, other than make it hard for the dope testers to carry out their job.

Didn't some mention on here their was an incident with Nani just before the world cup aswel?

I posted a thread on this a few days ago.

Basically we've got a United player who mysteriously missed the World Cup, pulling out the night before. Rumours at the time suggested there was an issue with a drug test.

Now we've got a former United coach being suspended for fucking about with the testers. And obviously in the not too distant past we've had Rio banned for skipping a drugs test.

That's two too many incidents for my liking, particularly when United seem to manage the impossible by getting very good performances from players who should be over the hill by now.

I'm a little suspicious to say the least.

i can't stand the scum but i doubt the likes of giggs' and scholes' careers have been extended due to drug use.

as for slur alex, i'd confiscate his hip flask - think it'd make all the difference.

I'd be more suspicious if they could get Hargreaves healthy but there are certainly compounds out there that are hard to pick up on testing (due to short half-lives) which significantly aid in recovery and endurance.

Scholes did look dead and buried a few years ago only to now come back with a bit more zest about him. I can't imagine that guys like him and Giggs would risk tarnishing what they've achieved in football for the sake of squeezing out another year or so in the game.

And Italian sides have a lot of older players putting in very good performances (although not sure if that does more to support your suspicions than allay them).
