Capital One Cup - West Brom build up thread.

Well, we've been crying out for tournaments like the league cup to be used for exactly this. We know that the squad is paper thinn but hopefully this will be positive for the youngsters that get a chance.

The pressure on some of these kids could be to much, but look at Sterling, he has flourished with the first team game time.

To be fair, the cries regarding these tournaments are more our chance of lifting a trophy these days!! 😉

Bombing out of a cup and still floundering at the bottom of the league is hardly impressive or wise. The squad probably isn't strong enough to cope with the next few games but the sooner fans lose their old big time mentality and realise LFC needs to clutch at whatever results can promote a tiny bit of self-respect, the better.

16 years and 7 days old. Jeezzeess thats young.
Robinson was the youngest player with 16 years and 250 days.

He's a fantastic talent though. One of the England youth coaches that also coached Sturridge at the same age said Sinclair looks an even better prospect.

If it wasn't for the fact that we keep losing and are in the relegation zone the situation would be quite funny. All these kids getting a look in - Some shining, some not. It's like some mad roller coaster ride. LFC seems quite surreal at the moment. Easily one of the weirdest times for me as a fan.

Yes, I suppose the only vaguely similar time was when Souey's team of fitness experts managed to crock half the squad and he was actually pondering re-registering himself as a player and getting Craig Johnston to come back. And obviously that strange time brought the benefit of blooding our best young players about a year earlier than expected.

I was just saying that to a fellow red yesterday.

We've all been saying for years how we should be relying on the youth to be our squad players, ala United, yet when we start doing it people aren't happy, can't win I suppose, I for one am very happy with this arrangement, and in all honesty it makes me look forward to cup games a lot more than I would have done otherwise. I really hope this Sinclair character gets some game minutes at the end tonight.
Spot on, there's no pleasing some people. Its made me look forward to watching the captial one cup and europa cup knowing that our youngsters are being given a chance. If they can gain experience and develop then its well worth it. Players like suso and sterling will just go backwards if they stay in the reserves.

Why so hysteric? No pleasing some people?? people are discussing if we are to exposed to youngster. There is no point in fielding a team which crash out in the first game of the tournament. How on earth would that develop them? They will learn from playing in a strong team with some model pro's in. or is a person who believes that not entitled to that opinion?

Really? I never knew that. What happened exactly? Who came in?

*Puts on Robert Robinson mask* Ah, it was ever thus, it was ever thus...

(Actually, there are so few posts today this will probably still be on the same page tonight when the match starts!)

Yes, I've also been thinking back to that era recently.

I also wonder how many young players that have passed through the Academy that could have become stars had they been given a proper chance.

Emm, what do I want? Agree with you the big time is gone for now. Let the young ones play? Sure. Scrap some wins to remain in the PL? Sure. Can we have both, even we bomb out of all cups? Yes. That is the only way to develop for now since we ain't gonna buy good players because we are broke.
