Fabio Capello believes Premier League champions Manchester United are no longer the dominant force that strutted to three onsecutive league titles, suggesting Sir Alex Ferguson’s side has ‘slowed down’. The England boss praised the strength of the Premier League, but in doing so, suggested Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are on the wane.

The Italian indicated the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City have closed the gap on United, and Chelsea, while also suggesting Liverpool’s fortunes would improve over the second half of the season.

Manchester United are still very much in contention for an unprecedented fourth league title in a row, but their league position defies an alleged weakness that was previously not apparent prior to Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit to Real Madrid during the summer.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Capello said of Si Alex Ferguson’s side: “Manchester United were a war machine and they have slowed down,†“Chelsea are fine, but the other teams are getting better — Arsenal and Aston Villa and then those teams further behind.â€
“[Roberto] Mancini’s Manchester City and [Alberto] Aquilani’sLiverpool will pick up speed.â€

Aquilani's Liverpool??!! Does he only differentiate teams by the Italians they have on the staff? Do you reckon last season he referred to us as Dossena's Liverpool?

Bit harsh, gents - the interview was with "Gazzetta dello Sport" whose readers may or may not know much about us. Unless of course they're AC Milan fans.

I was only joking to be fair. Although I don't think if you are talking about Liverpool to someone who doesn't know us, adding the fact that Aquilani plays(?) for us is going to help much!

Man Utd have one point less than they did at this stage last season. I'll reserve judgment until the end of the season.

Yea, but they were shit at this stage of last season too. They are clearly not as good as last year to my eyes.
