Buchtmann to Fulham

Fulham wrapped up their January transfer business on Monday afternoon with the news that highly rated German youngster Christopher Butchmann had signed from Liverpool on an 18 month deal with the Club.

The 17-year-old from Minden was named amongst UEFA's 'Top 10 Stars of the Future' in May 2009 after playing an integral role in Germany's European U17 Championship triumph.

Before revealing the Butchmann coup, Fulham announced two loan signings on Monday morning. Firstly it was announced that AS Roma striker and Italy U21 striker Stefano Okaka had signed on loan until the end of the season before the arrival former England international defender Nicky Shorey was confirmed by the Club.

Quit panicking.

What are you on about? It doesn't say it's a loan deal - just that he signed an 18-month contract.
 
According to the guys on TLW, it's 100K plus add-ons, so I'm sure that if he does come good, we'll get a piece of the pie.

i don't are about add-ons. We've lost potentially one of the brightest prospects we've had in years for a paltry amount. It's all just so deflating. The club is in dire straits and i'm sick of it

a fair handful. Went to the youth cup games last year and watch them on LFC.tv

Everyone is raging about losing this kid. I'm just wondering if any have actually seen him play considering he's very rarely featured for the reserves... valid question, is it not?

True enough, it merely sounded like it was said in an accusatory tone, so it turns out i was being the one defensive!

I've seen him a bit and he did seem to have the quality. He prob didn't get much luck in the reserves because the kaclinic is ahead of him and he's been in tremendous form. Could've contributed to his decision to leave, but all the same it's not often that fifa notice any of our players at youth level, so it would've been nice to keep hold of someone until they definitely turned out shit...... i still don't get why jourdy brouwer is still there!

But the top young players have the big European clubs after them, he went to Fulham. Was he *that* good then?

I guess the fact Arsenal and Barca were also sniffing around him should answer the question.
 
I'm genuinely not arsed about Buchtmann. Never seem him play. Don't care at all.

If some spotty kid would rather be a Fulham than Liverpool then so be it.
 
For as much as I hate loosing out on talents I'm not that bothered with this one, as he was obviously still behind Kacaniklic in the pecking order which indicates he was only 5th or 6th choice for the LW spot.

The prize beeing touted however seems ridiculously low. But as Keni said hopefully we are due some money should he turn out good.

And so what if he made UEFA's list of players to watch out for. I bet if you go through previous lists there's loads of no marks who we've never heard of.

Its when our top players start wanting to leave that its time to start worrying
 
I haven't seen him to my apoplexy may be over the top but all the reports I read about him and what posters were saying about him were raving. It's one thing to sell him on but for such a miniscule sum is poor.
 
Wasn't there some rumours around the time he left us that he was somewhat troublesome?
 
I thought he was one of the bigwigs in the Academy rather than a scout, though maybe there's some overlap.

It'll be interesting to see who Roy does bring with him. Appaz.his no.2-cum-goalie coach, Mike Kelly, is coming for a start, so where that leaves Sammy Lee remains to be seen.
