Am I missing something here?

It was my understanding that Broughtons sole responsibility is to oversee the sale of the club. He doesn't need to get involved with anything else and indeed, he probably doesn't have the time to do so.

So, although it does grate that a Chelsea fan is tasked with such a seemingly important job, should it really matter where his footballing allegiances lie? It's not as thought we ever knew which clubs the consultants at Rotschilds and all the other banks and consultancies we've handed millions over to in recent years support, is it?
No Keni you hit the nail on the head. He was brought in to sell the club which is nowhere nearer being sold, yet he can be involved in the removal of the Manager and when asked about it, talks about the 'Media', in an at best curt and at worst rude reply. That's how much he thinks of Liverpool fans, yet posters in this thread support that and show clear disdain for genuine Liverpool fans who made the query. You couldn't make it up.
He doesn't say he was sacked because of the media. And we don't know what the original email looked like. It could have been a very volatile and offensive letter, hence the abrupt reply.

That's largely based on assumptions KopKing. None of us know how near or far away from a sale we are. What we do know is that it's not going to be easy as we've had numerous internationally recognized banks and consultancies involved for some time and come up short. Broughton is not a magician and it's pointless to expect that his arrival suddenly means all problems with finding a suitable buyer will just vanish.

As for the letter, it's basically just another fan having a long-winded rant at the owners and the board. Do you think he or any of the SOS lot want a genuine reply? They just want everyone from the owners to the management team out the door and that's that.

I have no issues with Broughtons response. If he got into things with this guy, which he has no obligation to do by the way - should any fan be able to write to the board and expect a response? - it would've just made things worse. If anything, he should've just ignored it altogether.

Regardless of who Broughton supports shouldnt be an issue when getting worked up over the dismissal of Rafa! Last seasons performance was enough to have put Rafa at risk of losing his job! Whether its a chelsea fan chairman whos appointed to sell the club, a pair of greedy americans or someone whos loves the club dearly hands down the sentence, it was justified!

Broughton hasnt really done anything of note (other than the sacking, so its obvious he'll be singled out by all the Rafa fans), but should he get his job done in the near future that would mean new owners and the start of a new era! Which we need badly. I for one am not disappointed Rafas gone and the sooner Broughton gets his job done here the better!

That Carragher's a cunt. A fucking boyhood blue. No wonder he scored those oggys against Utd. Who on earth signed him up? Surely they should have known he'd have done us over

*Head explodes*
Ridiculous comparison. No one is redder than Carra and he didn't refuse to turn up to a Derby because of 'conflict of interest' did he?. Broughton wasn't a *boyhood* Chelsea fan and converted, he is a CURRENT Chelsea fan. A Chelsea supporter sacked our best manager in 20 years for one bad season. His brief is to sell the club, why has it not been sold? Kenny wants to manage the club, the overwhelming majority of fans want this too, why hasn't he been appointed and why are we still making overtures to Roy Hodgson, who isn't fit to carry The King's jockstrap?
Er, think you're over-simplifying selling the club and appointing a new manager.

And there's been loads of debate as to whether Rafa has been our best manager in 20 years. Click on this link www.sixcrazyminutes.com

The Kings jockstrap bit, I think, is correct though.
It really is quite simple actually, perhaps your over complicating it? Rafa has been our most successful manager since Dalglish, its not a matter of opinion. The European cup is the most prestigious trophy in European football.

I stand by my comment that Broughton cannot possibly have our best interests at heart. If we were head to head with Chelsea for any trophy, who do you think he would root for? One thing we do know is that he wouldn't turn up.
How do you know he can't separate his professional job from his sporting allegiance? He's shown no evidence that he's incompetent in what he's been hired to do. Basically, you're letting your love for Rafa blind your judgement.
Rafa's gone I've dealt with that. What I can't deal with is that we have a situation that we have a Chelsea supporting chairman. How do you know that he CAN separate his professional job from his sporting allegiance? Either way I don't care, I want a Liverpool supporter running my club that way it's never an issue.

What's sad is that you and others accept this state of affairs and even try to defend it, that's how far out of touch you've become. Yet you (and others) criticise RAWK, SoS and anyone else who tries to actually do anything and influence things.
Rafa is a Madrid fan. Did that make a difference to how he did his job ?

If Broughton was as petty, small minded and as unobjective as your average fan he wouldn't have held the positions he did before arriving at Liverpool.
Did Rafa not attend when we played Real Madrid? Does Madrid play in The Premier League? You don't know anything about Broughton to comment about his state of mind or objectivity. He's not even a football man, so what are his qualifications to be Chairman of our club? The first criteria of that role would be an undying love for the club, I would have thought, or at the very least attend ALL of our fucking matches.
That's quite literally all complete and utter sentamentalist bullshit.

We're a club in a delicate financial situation, we need hard nosed businessmen to get us through it unscathed - as well as a manager who is up to the task.

I'm finding it difficult to remain civil to this conspiratorial bullshit that emanates from people who are supposed to support the club.
Who suggested a conspiracy? No one, so that point is not worth anything.

Why are we in a delicate financial situation? Mis-management that's why, so the same people who put us in the shit are the best equipped to get us out of it? Yea right. Hard nosed? How about uncaring asset strippers. Hard nosed businessmen my arse.

I care not who you remain civil to or not. Deal with your anger management issues yourself I don't take on board threats over a fucking forum, do what you want.

Well there we have it then. Broughton shouldn't have replied at all, he couldn't win either way.

Fucking hell, if he had a conflict of interests with his Chelsea background he would have signed Rafa on a ten year deal, and given him a few signed cheques

Keni a Liverpool fan is their 'customer' with genuine concerns and should be afforded the respect as such. Is that indicative of their disdain for Liverpool supporters in general? Well if that's anything to go by then yes.

If someone from BA wrote such a missive to a customer they would rightly be hauled over the coals for it.

The cheek of rbs giving us loans too. The fucking rangers supporting bastards

I wish we had an LFC supporting Scouser as Chairman. An LFC supporting Scouser would never have got us in this mess.

In an ideal world everyone at the club would be red through & through.

Sky wouldn't exist & games would be on bbc1, kids would play in the streets & we'd be challenging Everton fo the title every season.

But it's not, football is a business, LFC are a business. No matter how many marches people go on, how many badges & tshirts are made, that will not change.

Lets see if that's the case when next years' £40m interest payment is due. Good that you've shown your true colours though. We are run superbly with hard nosed businessmen. The same hard nosed businessmen who had to sell their other sporting interests when they went tits up too by the way. Why should they care about bankrupting Liverpool? But our Chelsea supporting Chairman will have sleepless nights about it and ensure that it doesn't happen right? 🙂

The top and bottom of it is that Broughton should have stopped himself replying to any fucking halfwit that decides to send him emails, he and the rest should have learned to avoid it, by now, and having any dialogue with individuals or groups that purport to represent fansnot that the response was particularly inappropriate.

No we're a football club. As a business we suck. Businesses make money, not lose it hand over fist and make millions for fucking bankers. I can't believe you said that. I despair I really do. I didn't say we were a well run business did I?

The owners have fucked us over, I don't deny it, but broughton has done nothing to warrant any of this.

You may not want to admit it but we ARE a business. We have a chairman & a board & they make decisions as any business.

Football clubs aren't like normal businesses and very few actually make money (do any?). As said already KopKing, you're largely basing your argument on your disdain for the men in charge and our present situation. That disdain is understandable and we all share it, but there is little point in letting it cloud your ability to see reason.

At this moment in time, there is nothing to say Broughton is not trying to carry out his duties to the best of his abilities and that's that.

I didn't say Broughton was a cunt, so your not dealing with facts. I suggested that he lost his original focus to sell the club and that I find it unacceptable that we have a Chelsea supporting chairman and as such he can't have our best interests at heart. He proved that by NOT attending a league match. That's a fact.

We have an unsustainable debt that can only be serviced by the sale of our best players we already had stopped buying players and was required to operate at a profit. That was Rafa's brief. He succeeded in that and lost his job. Oh the irony!
