We are indeed highly effective at being shit at corners...although to be as fair to Rodgers as you have been to Klopp, it's a state of affairs that dates back much further.
Aye, but Rogers had years and we were still shit at the back at the end of his tenure, whereas, Klopp hasn't even had a preseason. Judge him at the same point of next season, and if we're still as dismal then, I'll agree with you mate.

Carra pointed out that Klopp had done something in regards of set pieces.
But there are 3 fuck ups leading to the goal yesterday.
1) Ibe isnt closing down the short corner 2) 3-4 players cant handle Fellaini 3) Lucas totally forgets his man and Rooney scores.

3) Rooney pushed Lucas. He is an old pro he does that sly one-handed push all the time. Lucas being the good guy that he is did not ask for a foul and in that position he could only try to jump for the ball. If everyone missed the ball Rooney would have scored as well, by cheating.

Saw it being shared that Rodgers was adamant that Ashley Williams would have been a big success at Liverpool, and Carra agreed that Williams is a top defender.

Now that's interesting. I've always considered him overrated and never wanted him here, but if Carra endorses him....

Why not? He's allowed to express an opinion, that's his job really. If he rates him, he rates him. Although he has been known to change his mind
Yeah but out of respect for his ex manager alone he's hardly going to say on tv that he doesn't rate williams.

Contrary to Dreamy's criticisms, I think Rodgers has done Klopp a great service. He knew what he was doing by talking about the committee now. If he'd been selfish he would have started a semi-civil war while he was in charge, like Rafa would have done. By highlighting the committee's interference now, he's put those people on the back foot and left Klopp free to rise above it whilst, hopefully, benefiting from the shift in pressure. It's down to the committee now to be seen to back the manager, rather than impose more unwanted players on him. Yes, of course, Rodgers is defending his own reputation, but it's also a constructive and decent parting gift to his successor.

I do sincerely hope your take is accurate and that Rodgers has given Klopp the opportunity to put his stamp on the team, and not the TC's.

I do wonder how last year would have turned out had we got Sanchez ...

He is, well I wouldn't say "top", but he's a good defender and would have been a good experienced head for us to bring in after Carragher left.

Yeah, fair enough. Although it's also fair to point out that just as many of his signings as opposed to committee signings have failed. There's no clear indication that either approach has been a success. It could be that nothing much will change, but I'd be surprised if Klopp was as malleable and agreeable to such a structure as Rodgers had to be, as Klopp is a far more high-profile and valuable manager, and not one Liverpool can really afford to tick off before he has the chance to make this job a success.

So I very much doubt we will see another Balotelli episode under Klopp's tenure. He'd just say "fuck off".

Quite a few people called for Williams to be signed as Carra's replacement. Rushie was very public about it, as was Jamie Redknapp and Molby. I think it was the age issue that stymied it.

There appears to be quite a long list of players Rodgers wanted that, for whatever reasons, we didn't get. Some, like Dempsey, we can be thankful for, but we'd be a better side by miles if players like Williams, Delle Ali and Sanchez were Liverpool players. Mind you, it would also be a better team if they'd blocked him from signing the likes of Joe Allen, Borini, and arguably Benteke too, so again, it's hard to call.

(I'm not laying blame for Sanchez at anyone's door, that's not really down to any lack of effort, simple player preference)

Were you reading the forum during that transfer saga? Christ, it was an infuriating time on here. A lot of people couldn't accept Sanchez preferred London and Arsenal to us and continued to tell us we didn't try hard enough to sign him.

That it is. Klopp laid the groundwork with his generous comments about Rodgers, but fair play to Rodgers for responding in kind.

Quite, even though he, his wife and Rodgers all pretty much confirmed the same story, you still had fucking dullards blaming it on Rodgers or Ayre or a lack of ambition. In fact, many of the same posters still do.

I think that was as much frustration as a genuine concern. It seemed pretty obvious to me.

That was part of it, but as much as anything it was an example of the common internet phenomenon of not letting the facts get in the way of a good rant.

In most cases it comes down to hard cash - if we tried hard enough and made him a much more attractive offer he would have come. The wife thing is just a smokescreen. As he was the only realistic Suarez replacement out there we should have gone all out to get him, particularly as we were negotiating with Barca over Suarez.

Oh dear.

No, it really ain't so. We offered Barca more than the Arse did, they wanted him to accept our offer and we'd have matched (at the very least) the wages the Arse offered him. He and his missus preferred to go to the Smoke. Full stop.
