Stevie worringly looked in the worst shape I think I've ever seen him. Not a slant on the lad, just that usually he's not just the best player on the pitch but best athlete by a mile. Looks 6 or 7 games away from full fitness, which is a real worry as our other centre mids are all plodders.
He has been out the game for 6 months with a massive injury so thats only to be expected
Your spot on of course, suppose I was just hoping for a miracle because we need him so badly. His I'm in the best shape of my life comments look a little off though...

Hate to take time you guys bigging up our players but I thought I'd mention Will Buckley (again),

Any thoughts?

I thought he was fantastic.

Was he the right winger? Had a good first half but disappeared a bit after that.
He played on the left during the first half. Gave Kelly a torrid time.
Amazingly quick, just sprinted past Kelly time after time it seemed.

He's the one who tried to get a penalty in the first half.

Am i the only one who thought he had a good game? Apart from that pass, i can't honestly think of anything he did wrong.

Edit: spots Shelvey's post
No, i thought he did Ok
I thought he did Ok and tried to impose himself at times - and yeah had one bad pass but was good enough, considering its his first full game and like in a new country/new league etc... - not really time to write him off is it ?

BUT - our performances in 2nd half was VERY worrying. We struggle against pace - its FACT and obvious right now. Our midfield players are neither physically imposing / quick / skillfull - they are seriously average (not counting SG), I think we will struggle this season we are seriously lacking - don't know how its happened - from Alonso, SG, Masha - to what we have right now ? not good.

maxi was completely invisible in that game, I forget he was playing. maxi doing his best henderson impression.

maxi, maxi rodriguez please reappear for me...

Thought he was alright with some good moments and some bad, slightly more good than bad though.

A lot of his bad moments were down to him not knowing where to be, that'll come with time (and a better grasp of english) though.

No idea what the fuck was happening with the pass.

Poyet knows his wingers; he signed Buckley to replace the excellent Elliot Bennett (who went to Norwich) and Buckley has proved equally dangerous. Noone didn't have a great game last night but showed enough to show why the Brighton fans rave about him.

Lua Lua who came on as sub is another great wing option for them.

Buckley is generally more effective on the right.

Is he the scouser who put the roof on Stevie G's house? He played pretty well I thought

I must have missed that bit about his roofing skills but yeah he's a scouser.

He looked fitter than I was expecting to be honest, particularly considering he won't have been wanting to stretch himself particularly

I wouldn't have said that at all. I thought in the first half he was integral with Suarez and Bellamy in our best moves and passing.
In the second half he was no worse than most of them

Did you see him when he set Dirk up for the second goal, or did you pretend it was Henderson, even though it wasn't ?

Did you ?

Did you see him ?

Lol.
If it had been Henderson he would never have shut up about it.
He did dissappear a bit in the second half i thought. But then the midfielders had lost control by then so he had little of the ball.
But yeah hes had 2 starts this season and got a goal and an assist. I think he should play more.

I'm was only messing. I thought the whole team was good in the first half but less so in the second half and I put that down to playing within ourselves because we play at the weekend.
You never seem to appreciate that the opposition can influence the game and our performance Neil.
We played well in the first half where Brighton were poor, they massively improved second half and thats why we looked weaker.
You live in a football eutopian dreamworld.

The "Eutopian" dreamworld? Is that the EU region without the French?

brighton got more into the game second half but to me we seemed to be playing in second gear. okay, I'll give credit to brighton for pushing us back but I still think we had a couple of gears if brighton had equalised.
I disagree. If Brighton had equalized they would have won the game. They were very good second half. We didnt seem to know what to do.
And saying 'They were thinking about the weekend' is crap. Most of that team arent going to play at the weekend and that was their chance to earn a place. They werent coasting. They were outplayed.
