Brad Jones hopes his Anfield debut turns out better than his last outing in front of the Kop.

The Aussie stopper - who is finalising the formalities of his move to Liverpool - was beaten by what he describes as a 'Stevie G worldy' when he visited Merseyside with Middlesbrough in April 2005.

The game left a lasting impression on Jones, whose mother is Scouse.

"It was brilliant up until Stevie G scored an absolute worldy against me. He did what he does best and it was a screamer," said the 28-year-old in an interview which can now be watched in full on LFCTV Online.

"The one memory I have is from when Stevie scored the goal: before I'd even hit the floor from diving I couldn't hear anything. The noise was unbelievable.

"I also got applauded by the Kop and I wasn't expecting it. It was a bit of a surprise. That was nice.

"Before the game I had goosebumps listening to You'll Never Walk Alone. I dare say it will be even better when I do it as a Liverpool player.

"I've stepped out as an opposition player and I think stepping out as a Liverpool player would be an ambition I can tick off my list. When it comes it'll be a dream come true."

Jones walking out at Anfield will also be a proud moment for his Liverpudlian mum.

"Mum's over the moon, as is my granddad," said Australia international. "It's nice. I have family round here, so it's nice to be in a familiar area.

"It's 50/50 in the family between Liverpool and Everton, but I'm sticking to the red side.

I don't understand this actually, I'm assuming the Calavieri transfer has been agreed.

Because if not it's a bit silly.

Neil Jones again:

Cesena have made an approach to LFC for Diego Cavalieri. Loan deal looks likeliest (surprisingly), but fee of around £2m could be agreed.

Me this time:

Not impressed if true.
Me neither. What happened to him wanting to go back to Brazil for family reasons?

In translating that article to English, basically:

Brasilian site saying that Brasilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri never really settled at Liverpool.

They say that Pepe Reina is a hard act to dislodge and that the arrival of Brad Jones will more than likely push Diego further down the waiting line.

However they lay the blame for Diego's demise on “senhora Cavalieri” aka his woman.

His woman, is f'ing hoooooot - click on the link above and then click on "galeria de fotos" 😉

i read its either on loan or he is leaving on a free =s

Cesena are in the Serie A this season and recently signed Stephen Appiah so hopefully they're splashing the cash.

Apparently Cavalieri had a chat with Roy about wanting to leave to get first team football as it is impossible to dislodge Pepe. He didn't want to be seen as content being no.2! He simply wants to play which is understandable.

I'm delighted and hope that we recover most of what we paid for him.

Roy's missus is from Liverpool?

Sure is.

Reds keeper Brad Jones has been named in Australia’s squad for next month’s Asian Cup in Qatar.

Jones will join up with Holger Osieck’s squad for a training camp in Dubai on January 3.

Who's our 3rd choice, Gulacsi?

I hope it's Bouzanis who gets the nod... or is he off too?

I think so, yeah.

£2.3m wasted? :🙂

DERBY County's goalkeeping saga this season is set to take a new twist.

Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones is expected to arrive on loan today while the Derby Telegraph understands defender Dean Leacock is likely to join Hull City in a loan deal.

The window for emergency loans closes tonight.

Leacock, whose Rams' contract runs to 2012, has made 23 appearances this season but he has not featured since the home defeat by Nottingham Forest in January.

He was sidelined by illness and the 26-year-old has not been able to force his way back into the team.

Shaun Barker and Daniel Ayala are filling the centre-back positions. Miles Addison can also play in defence and Russell Anderson is on his way back from injury.

Derby have moved for Jones after Hull recalled Matt Duke from his loan spell.

Duke had been ready to step in for Frank Fielding in the Rams' final eight games of the Championship campaign but now Jones, the 29-year-old Australian, is ready to become the fourth keeper to be used by Derby this season.

Stephen Bywater started the season as number one but injured his wrist in training in October.

Derby brought in Fielding on loan from Blackburn and he impressed during a two-month spell.

The England Under-21 international made 10 consecutive appearances as the team climbed to fourth in the table.

A fit-again Bywater returned to the team in December and Fielding went back to Blackburn but Bywater suffered a strained muscle in his side in the home game against Hull in February.

With back-up keeper Saul Deeney out injured, 19-year-old James Severn came off the bench two minutes into the second half and Hull's winning goal came when he misjudged the flight of a corner.

The injuries to Bywater and Deeney meant Derby had to dip into the loan market again.

Fielding returned for a second spell but the rules state that a player can spend a maximum 93 days on emergency loan at a club during a season
and his third and final month came to an end after Saturday's draw against Crystal Palace, although all the indications are that Derby will make the 22-year-old their first permanent signing of close season.

Bywater is currently on loan to Cardiff City until the end of the season. He has a year to run on his contract after this season and his future at Pride Park looks uncertain with Fielding likely to be signed in the close season.

Jones joined Liverpool from Middlesbrough in a £2.3m deal last summer and he signed a three-year contract.

His two appearances for the Reds this season came against Northampton Town in the Carling Cup in September and FC Utrecht in the Europa League in December.

He started his career with Bayswater City SC in Western Australia before he moved to Middlesbrough as a youth player and signed professional in 1999.

Well he was another Hodgson signing, wasn't he? Looks like Gulacsi is our second choice now anyway

Yeah, apparently lost his place on the bench after going away with Australia at the Asian Cup. Was Gulacsi ineligible as a home grown player at the start of the season? With hindsight we could've saved that transfer fee for a largely unproven no. 2.

van der vaart = jones, poulson & koncheskey

plus change
Ouch >_<

"No, that's not true. Those stories can get very irritating," Hodgson bemoaned.

"An agent rings you up to ask if you want to sign Van der Vaart, you say 'No' and then the next minute you're one of the clubs that want to sign him.

"I apologise to Van der Vaart if his agent gave him another story. I think he's a very good player, but he's not the profile of the player we were looking for.

"When it came up I said, 'No, we have players in his position.
"
