Boxing please

According to some fundie on the radio one day, there wasn't enough time for the yeast to produce alcohol.

I wish I was making this up. Norn Iron is full of teetotalers because of their beliefs.

Right, so they're OK with the miracle being turning water into a grape-based drink, but the idea that the transmogrification would include the fermenting process is just too silly?

It's ridiculous, isn't it? I used to work with a lady who was very religious, her husband is a Presbyterian minister, and she would enjoy a few glasses of wine like a normal person. Anyway, her Granny didn't drink and if you pointed out that Jesus turned water into wine she would reply with "I wish people wouldn't talk about the bad stuff that Jesus did"!

If it's any consolation, that kind of attitude is embarrassing to the vast majority of mainstream Christians I've ever come across. It also misses the point massively, but I don't particularly want to divert this down the route of a religious discussion.

I reckon they do it just to be different as they've seen the Catholics and the Orthodox guzzle down the wine!

It seems Golovkin isn't going to get the middleweight unification bout against Billy Joe Saunders that he wanted.

WBA's going to force him to fight his mandatory challenger, Danny Jacobs on Dec 10 instead. This is getting boring. Jacobs seems like a decent boxer and is very likeable (cancer survivor, and probably the most articulate and respectful boxer you'll find), but I can't see him hanging with GGG at all.

Just get the Canelo fight made, and then move on to 168.

Canelo is being a twat over GGG. Golden Boy are offering him a flat fee. GGG wants a % of the PPV money. Also, I've heard the Canelo camp are waiting for GGG's age to start showing before taking the fight. Seems just another soap opera of a fight like Pac Man and Mayweather.

Tonight we have on offer a typical Eddie Hearn show. Bellew shouldn't lose this one. Another hand picked opponent.

Bellew did a number on him there like. Looked sloppy occasionally & risked being caught, but landed some hammer blows.

Made a cunt of himself trying to get to Haye like that afterwards though.

I'm not a big fan of Tony Bellew, but I can see why he's doing what he's doing. He's much like Bisping in the UFC - he's punching above his weight holding a belt, so he's trying to talk as much trash as possible and talk himself up as much as he can, before he faces a proper opponent and gets dismantled. Fair play to them, get a few big'ish money fights out of the way before they lose it, much bigger money fights than they were getting without the belt anyways.
Even though he's not fought for the last few years, I think David Haye would smash him. It'd mean Bellew has to go up to HW though as Haye can't arsed with the cruiserweight division now at his age.

Joshua-Klitschko all but signed then. For December 10.

Upcoming decent fights this year:

Nov 5: Pacquiao v Vargas
Nov 12: Abraham v Murray
Nov 19: Kovalev v Ward
Nov 26: Lomachenko v Walters
Dec 10: Joshua v Klitschko
Dec 10: Golovkin v Jacobs (not agreed yet)

anyone watching this gavin eggington fight? a fight is what it is....both exchanging blows for blows.

not a massive main event headlining fight in terms of the 2 names but both leaving it all out there tonight.

Klitschko has picked up an injury apparently. No fight with Joshua then this year - might happen in March.

Joshua should be fighting for the vacant WBA title, so it won't be David Price in the ring with him. Possibly could fight Pulev or Joseph Parker.

Joshua fighting molina.

Dear dear me. Molina shit, Chisora shit, Whyte shit. Feel sorry for Joshua, wheeling out anther bum for him to knock over as the only 2 decent other fighters in the division aren't available. No shame on him though, he's just beating what's put infront of him.

Even more confusing now is that the WBA have made a Wlad v AJ fight in the spring mandatory for their 'super' belt, they've made Briggs vs Browne mandatory for their 'regular' belt!! And the winner of the Whyte vs Chisora is mandatory for Wilder's WBC belt!!!! Azifffff

To make it worse it's a PPV event
This is why they ended up jibbing ppv altogether a while back, cos they put that many fights on ppv that people didn't want to pay for any after watching a few shit ones on the bounce.

I'm guessing they're trying to milk it now cos there's an appetite for big UK fights with ringwalk times people don't have to snort a few grams of beak to make sure they're awake for.

They need to pick & choose what they charge for though, esp the kinds of ludicrous prices they charge.

I doubt there will be any appetite for the December offering. I think the undercard is underwhelming no matter how much Hearne tries to big it up. The AJ fight won't last 5 minutes.

The Klitschko fight will sell itself and make a lot of money.

I agree about the PPV on sky point. For boxing PPV hasn't really taken off. As FFF says, who can really be arsed staying up till 4am without needing to get off their tits l. I thought we get ripped off for £20 a show but the rest of the world charges an astonishing amount. Isn't the US around $75?

Yeah, the prices I see when watching the US ppv on nbc etc are fucking mental.

I can only assume most people over there stream or cs the fights instead!

Did anyone watch the Pacquiao-Vargas fight? Mayweather was in attendance, and there are now rumblings of a rematch in 2017.

Talk on the radio today of Froch coming out of retirement to fight Golovkin. Am I the only one who thinks this would be a serious mistake on his part?

Golovkin would kill him now. Surely just tabloid bollocks.
Ward vs Kovalev the weekend, should be a great one. I'd go for Ward on points, but if Kovalev catches him...

Yeah, that's how I see it too. Not a walkover for Ward but I make him the likely winner. If Kovalev lands one flush on him, though, it'll be goodnight Vienna.

Ward-Kovalev will be brilliant if both decide to bring their A game. It's not getting much press, but it could well be one of the best fights in recent years.

sky sports had some mug on yesterday ,who briefly spoke of the idea of Mayweather coming back to fight the Mcgregor (in a boxing ring) apparently , it'd be tight ...

would McGregor even be able to land a hit in a boxing ring ? It'd surely be a massacre , just as itd be on the flip
