Boxing please

Does anyone think Liam Smith has a chance against Canelo?
Boxers always have a chance. Hence the phrase punchers chance.

The odds are definitely against him, but as Jules says, Canelo may be feeling that weight & there's a chance it may dull his game, if so those odds increase.

I'm looking forward to it regardless, although I'll have to record it as at the in laws on Saturday evening so I'll be doubt be drinking earlyish & won't be able to stay awake long enough to watch live.

I actually think it's an intriguing match-up.

For starters, I don't think Canelo knocks Smith out. Smith is a bit taller, so should be able to fight from distance, and Canelo isn't the relentless attacker Golovkin is.

Plus Canelo's always been taken the distance by the good boxers he's fought - Mayweather, Cotto, Lara, Trout, Mosley.

Think Smith can definitely take him to 12 if he boxes smart.

Though Canelo will probably win on points if that happens.

Didn't win a round. Possibly one at a push. Cracking body shot to put smith down.

Smith had a few spells but too few. It wasn't the walkover many predicted.

Smith did much better than I expected & clearly wouldn't let Canelo rest as he likes to do.

Unfortunately Smith was strong enough to dictate bits of the fight & force Canelo back against the ropes in spells, but not strong enough to actually seriously hurt him, & when Canelo got into his flow he inflicted damage a few times even before that brutal body shot.

The Canelo GGG saga continues. Canelo saying they offered GGG treble the money he got for the brook fight and was turned down. GGG has come out and said he's chatting shit.

Canelo wasted a lot of punches hitting gloves and had his gloves low for a lot of the fight. That could've been due to smiths high guard but GGG will twat him everywhere if he tried that.

It could be a bloody good fight, but if Smith can take advantage of Canelo's need to take breathers then GGG will be able to also, & has a lot more sting to his punches, & can usually land a lot more in the same time.

Hopefully our talented british boxers have learned their lesson now with all this going up in weight bullshit. They need to stay at the weights where they can win instead of chasing a small amount of extra money only to get their arses handed to them.

Saw a replay. Smith boxed quite well, but had very little power. Especially with the left hand. Can't expect to fight an elite fighter like Canelo without having the ability to hurt him at least on occasion.

Well Tyson is back in the news. His fight is off again apparently. There is a possibility he will have his belts taken off him.

Eddie Hearn has said he's approached the klitscko camp about a fight with Joshua in November.

Seems the fury fight wasn't signed as they were arguing over the purse.

Tyson Fury does make himself an easy target, but I have some sympathy for him

His interview in Rolling Stone is pathetic and sad.

And I am getting tired of everyone in Boxing moaning about his views and opinions, like that sport's a fucking paragon of virtue, filled with erudite professors of the humanities. Even fucking Maloney has come out (again) complaining about Tyson's offensive comments about the "trans" community (despite he himself saying he didn't like being around gays when he was campaigning for UKIP. This was before being a she.)

And in any case, he's a fucking gypsy heavyweight boxer, brought up in an insular, almost fundamentalist Christian Traveller community. What the FUCK did you think his opinion would be about the trans community? What did you expect him to say? I'm surprised he'd even heard of it.

Fuck off and leave the daft cunt alone.

I think he's an abhorrent dickhead, but I've been dismayed by the vilification of him whilst also ignoring the fact his coach has said he's suffering issues which all clearly point at a mental illness of some sort, & most definitely depression.

I keep seeing that one about Jessica Ennis, looking quite fit in a dress.

I mean, really. So what?

Nah. How can they? Jeebus was all over it.

He turned water into wine FFS.

Using the same logic I'm sure he'd gladly turn flour into cocaine.
According to some fundie on the radio one day, there wasn't enough time for the yeast to produce alcohol.

I wish I was making this up. Norn Iron is full of teetotalers because of their beliefs.
