Boxing please

The oldens are always good.
There was a documentary series on BBC2 that was about classic boxing matches and it was great. A really excellent TV show, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It might have simply been called "Boxing". Anyway it was on a Sunday night in Autumn of 2004. I can remember this much detail as I was studying for my masters at the time.

Lennox Lewis is apparently saying he'll fight one of the Klitschkos for $100 mill.and can be ready for it in six months.

Whatever he's smoking, I'll have lots.

What he's actually saying there is he'd be willing to be knocked clean out inside 60seconds for 100mill - who wouldn't?!

Could be ready in 6months? I could be ready in 5mins.

Why the fuck would anyone be interested in watching Lennox come out of retirement. Boxing is shite these days.

Watch this classic and tell me I'm wrong!

Use your media magic and find that documentary I was talking about earlier.

@athensruairi - I think I've found it. 4 part boxing doco on bbc2 in 2004 called 'The Fight' - I'll see if I can find a torrent. Cheers mate.

Seems to have his head screwed on. I heard wee Barry raving about him on the radio a few months ago. North Belfast could do with a positive, unifying story.

Yes, obviously you've been an inspiration for all from North Belfast with aspirations to work in some sort of unspecified lab type industry/ research in Attica. I'm just thinking another local hero would be no bad thing.

Very impressive outing for Kell Brook last night in knocking out Senchenko (former world champion) and guaranteeing a world championship fight as number 1 contender.

Also impressed with Anthony Joshua's 2nd bout. Think this lad has a good future in front of him if he keeps learning and developing. Looks slick and seems to have good power

I thought Callum Smith looked very good against a seasoned pro, I think he has a very bright future. I thought Kell did ok, he does need to face some better quality opposition and it will count against him if and when he fights Alexander.

I really like frampton, he has a inner fury that I like and his punch picking was very good, got tagged a couple of times but overall very good. Him versus Quigg would be a great fight.

Joshua, not sure about him. There is a lot too like, nice jab, good speed, strangely though I don't think he has real knockout power and as he moves up in class it will be interesting to see how he does I suppose long as he has enough to make people think he could do very well.

Maidana *can* beat Mayweather, if he has a really good day and Mayweather an equally bad one.

Ain't gonna happen though. Mayweather's not quite what he used to be, but I can't see Maidana having enough to win.

Mayweather in top form. Hasn't slowed down by much and looks the business as usual.

Another shut out win to go 46-0.

even if you like mayweather there is no excuse for having bieber with you . fucks sake .

Just watched the fights from last night.

Khan did well against a dirty opponent, literally boxed clever in not letting him settle & spinning him so often that he didn't punch himself out when he kept facing him out.

Mayweather looked troubled by an even dirtier fighter, who was determined not to let him have the ring & to stay close constantly, breaking any rule to do so.

Of course he tired a lot & mayweather started to show his class.

I do think mayweather deserved it on points, only just though, cos he kept it clean & looking at clean shots he did come on top, it was bloody close though, & shows how 'The Best Ever' really isn't at all.

Khan looked the business and fought a clever fight. Calm and composed.

Mayweather eventually got going but Maidana was holding and clinching for most of the fight until Floyd decided to put some distance between them. Uncomfortable fight for him and not pleasing on the eye. Not a great performance but he got the win.

This is one of the best fights I've seen in years and years. Absolute scandal that Groves got stopped when he did.

Rematch on the 31st May - I'm ordering that for sure. Can't fucking wait.

Methinks Froch is going to batter him this time.
Ko'd by the 6th I reckon.
It's going to be an epic street brawl for the first few rounds.
Can't wait.

It'll be a war all right - both are real scrappers and there's the added spice that they don't like each other anyway. I don't think either fighter will get battered in the sense of "easily beaten" though. I can see it going the distance and it could even be a draw.

Froch took him way too lightly last time, he didn't start boxing like he should have done until late on.

He won't make the same mistake again, whilst I think Groves is a great boxer I still think Froch will have a bit too much for him, he'll either take it to a points win or a late (past 7 or 8) ko.
