Whoever Professor_Mac may be, I agree with everything he says. Hodgson is taking the blame, but it was Rafa who ran down our squad to its current sorry state.
If Kenny Dalglish had been appointed manager, he would be gone by now, because one thing he proved for certain during his managerial career is that he cannot handle stress.

I couldn't disagree more, I'm afraid. For one thing his departure came after Hillsborough, a one-off reason if ever there was one. For another, the very fact of his appointment would have lifted a big part of the gloom surrounding the club before Roy even arrived. Last but not least, I'm confident that the squad - which is not good enough to take us back to the top, but not relegation fodder either - would have performed a lot better for the King and that our league position would have been correspondingly higher.

Completely agree with this - Dalglish is now the only option, and I dont believe we would be in this state if he had been given the job.
That's not to say that Hodgson has fucked it up all on his own, rather that he has come in to a very difficult situation, and failed miserably to negotiate the trials and tribulations of a job of this magnitude.
Even if youre the standout, A1, choice for the job it can happen - when youre the only taker after some spectacularly average options have already distanced themselves from the job you definitely need to get off to a good start. He hasnt. The writings on the wall.
