McLeish has signed Bowyer on a two-year contract and is reportedly sniffing around Barton too.
Pretty obvious what tactics he's intending to play then.

WBA and Hull City both played nice football last season whereas Stoke City were very physical and it was Stoke who proved most succesful of the promoted teams. I reckon any promoted team (unless they have a big budget) should go down the same route as Stoke City and scrap for every point. Once they survive for a couple of seasons and establish themselves then they can go about expanding their game to include some subtler attributes.

Wigan and Reading did their best to play proper football when they came up and managed to avoid relegation, so it can be done. The kicker is the sophomore season when the opposition know you better and you have to reshape your team - both of them struggled badly... still Wigan have gone on to establish themselves more or less.

Good point, Wigan and Reading showed it could be done but at least they had a few tough-nuts in their teams whereas WBA fielded a bunch of pansies and Hull's only physical presence in midfield was their captain Ashbee who was blatantly not good enough for the division.
Burnley worry me because, having seen them 7 or 8 times last season, I can't see how they can survive unless they sign several physical players. Their midfield is quite talented (particularly Elliott and McCann) but even less physical than WBA's was last season! They need a big imposing central defender and a Jimmy Bullard type of central midfielder for starters if they want to compete at this level.
