Newcastle United boss John Carver says he believes he is "the best coach in the Premier League".
Since the 50-year-old was asked to take over as manager from Alan Pardew at the end of 2014, the Magpies have taken nine points from a possible 48 and are just two points above the drop zone having lost their last eight successive matches.
Carver also uses his pre-match press conference to brandish a hand-written note from club captain Fabricio Colocinni in an attempt to prove the Argentine's open letter to fans was not a publicity stunt organised by the club.

Im pretty sure he iw not paid as well as Morinho....why did he settle for less? Surely it cant be the opportunity to win titles or work with exciting players?

I think it was Bellamy that said the only way for Carver to be called a coach is if he has all his teeth removed and 52 seats installed.

His clapping his hands shouting come on lads after conceding yet another goal is just painful to watch.
Going by the comments from the last games he's lost it aswell.

Wouldn't it be great to see Newcastle relegated .. not going to happen more's the pity.

Couple of weeks back I thought they were safe... but as the losing streak continued, they're now actually going to be in the relegation zone if they lose against WBA today (= stay on 35 points) while Leicester and Hull pick up at least a point each (= 35 or more points with better goal difference) and Sunderland win (= 36 points and still have a game in hand as well).

Actually, Villa could lose today (= stay on 35 points) and then end up in the relegation zone if everything above happens and they lose by enough goals to erase the +3 goal difference cushion they have over Newcastle.

Too bad Burnley and QPR are doomed so both Villa and Newcastle can't go down together.

Sunderland's fixture list is Newcastle's biggest hope.

Will be interesting if they beat Everton today though.

It would do Newcastle good to go down. Do you remember that brief period when Keegan's team were close to the top and Sir John Hall was always on TV 'explaining' how there'd be a European Super League within five years, and then a World Super League, and Newcastle would be one of the 'two or three' dominant clubs? That's how they are when they have even a tiny bit of success (not even winning anything, just getting a bit higher in the table!) - immediately they're kings of the universe in their own tiny lard-lined minds. Maybe a generation of genuinely down to earth supporters will emerge if they spend enough time in lower league obscurity.

They need a longer stint. A much longer one. And they need another team in the city to end their almost Nazi-like obsession with themselves.

I hope they stay up and keep Carver as manager, the guy is comedy gold! To hear the barcode fans moan about the team, owner and manager is great fun - long may it continue. They had a priest on the radio this morning with a prayer for the team which the presenter is going to try to get played at the stadium before the match today. Hilarious!

I'm thinking of the 6-0 and 5-1, in recent memory, I guess. Still an easier place to go than any of Palace, Stoke, or a host of others. When we're not utterly bereft of ideas or talent of course.

Well, I don't know the stats but I would've thought it's one of our worst away trips over the past 20 years, isn't it?? Anyway, I can't stand them and hope they go down the u-bend.

It looks hopelessly all over the place to me. I just know that I never feel that confident of us going there.
