maybe we need to zoom out. do ppl really think that some nutjob billionaire want to free the bird cos he really wants to help humanity and defend democracy ? or lets believe for one sec, that he really wants to build a superapp which is very common in parts of Asia...but for 44billion ? You could build a superapp with a few million at most, but 44B ? And then sack everyone ? How are you ever going to get a return on your investment ? We're talking mammoth sums of profits required. In how many years ? It doesn't make any financial sense whatsoever.
Surely there's a much larger play at work. Perhaps, the data that has been collected and mined all these years, he plans to monetise and God forbid, weaponise ? Perhaps there's a link to his loony brain project Neuralink or Tesla Pi ? Elon may seem crazy to many, but he's definitely not stupid.
Or here's one for the conspiracy theorists, maybe he's another WEF puppet, putting into motion one of the key pieces of the new world order that is about to come ?

He probably thought (or perhaps didn't think at all) that he could get away without actually following through on buying it but this time his hand was forced.
Ended up overpaying a lot and at a bad time.
For all the shit Twitter gets, it's an interesting / useful platform and there isn't anything else that does what it does. That being said, it'll be interesting to see if / how it can get grow.
