Apparently Texas has its own power grid, it's cut off from the rest of the US so it avoids federal regulation. They didn't want to cough up the cash to bring the grid inline with the regulations... Biden's fault.
That's probably another reason why it failed, they can't draw power from other states if or when it's needed.
This is what happens after decades of basically zero regulation on the power generation and distribution companies in the state.
The blame is being squarely placed in the hands of our governor and state legislature, who of course are blaming the non-profit company that overseas the entire Texas power grid.
Abbot made numerous press conferences throughout the week, but only made himself look more and more stupid, as this should have been sorted out years ago. Conservatives like him really struggle when they can just come out and blame illegal immigrants for something.
Heard yesterday they the state was very close to a catastrophic failure, meaning the entire grid almost went down, and supposedly if that had happened, it would have needed to be re-built from scratch, and would have taken months. That is absolutely insane.
And while I we were all dealing with no power, no water and cold weather that Texans are just not used to, our fearless Senator Ted Cruz decided to take a holiday with his family to Cancun. What a cunt.
And at the end of the day, I think Biden and the federal government are going to come out ahead in the eyes of most Texans when all is said and done, a national state of emergency was declared yesterday, which paves the way for folks to get assistance from FEMA for things that insurance will not cover. That is huge, there has been a shitload of burst pipes, and flooded houses.
