I've always thought part of the reason Rafa received the status he got was down to the state of things when Houllier left - a lot of fans were ready to commit footballing suicide from the despair. Rafa brought with him hope and new dreams of success.
Things are different now because of the mess we're in financially and with the owners. We don't have those same hopes and dreams to look forward to now so it makes Rafa's last year all the worse. I wonder how fondly Houllier would be remembered if he was managing in this sort of situation.
