Of course he deserves criticism too but I don't really think those backing him deserve a shoeing when there's a few posters on here who have been ready to jump on him for the last 3yrs, cf some of the ridiculous dissections of his media comments.

Personally I do and I see these things as reasons rather than excuses. BR will be a better manager for the experience and this seasons new signings will have settled.

I suspect the owners will have learnt the lesson that you can't sell quality without direct replacements. I don't know the recruitment structure but it's very obviously flawed and I'm sure they'll address it.

I think there's a bit more to the team and clubs failings than just a lone bloke from NI.

Fair points but it is down to Rodgers to manage those circumstances and no one can say he has done so with distinction. If you ask me we wouldn't be having this conversation if we had signed Sanchez, we would have qualified for the CL with ease. This has cost us at least £50 million from next season, whoever made the decision not to pursue him more vigorously needs binning off whether that's Rodgers, Ayres, the transfer commitee or FSG. We needed him so badly we should have got him at any cost, we were certainly in pole position to sign him, I don't buy all the wife bollocks, if we needed to up our offer we should have done so.

haha, look mark i respect your feelings on Rodgers as do others but you cannot give it back to the very people who see things differently. It was said on here awhile back, i think it was @Rosco, that, Rodgers is doing a job at this club that you, me or tom dick and fucking harry would do and that's finish in the top 6 with a glimmer of the top 4. You bang on repeatedly about finishing 2nd, he didn't finish 2nd, Suarez and a fit Studge did. Unless we show some ambition and hire an experienced 'Manager" we are forever doomed with the Hodgsons and Rodgers of this world. That was me I think, though I gave several more reasons. As regards Steven, it was after the Mancs game I think where he got sent off that we improved, I also said at the time that it presented a dilemma for the Manager with him hanging around. Such is Steven's status it's hard to leave him out when fit. I think Steven moving on will help BR in picking the team although his are very big boots to fill obviously.

Agree about the failure to sign Sanchez, he and every other 'worldy' will come to us if we're ready to pay top money. In fact we had CL this time to offer him, so it boiled down to money and I don't think Rodgers decides that.

The biggest blunder was selling Suarez when we didn't need to. We sold him because we got windy about his and our rep, pretty expensive to be self righteous. Too many people responding to outsiders when they should've stayed strong.
