Oh. (*penny drops*)
Duh!
Duh!
Speed claims Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish will get the best out of much-travelled striker Bellamy, 32, who returns to Anfield for the second time, after a year-long stint in 2006, following his free transfer from Manchester City.
Speed said: “I’m happy for him, Craig’s a very important player for us and we need him doing his stuff on the field.
“Knowing Kenny as I do – he’s a great manager – he’ll get the best out of Craig and that can only be good for us.
“There is competition for places at Liverpool, but Craig is a great player and he will thrive on that.
“He did well on loan at Cardiff but the Premier League is where Craig should be. It’s disappointing for me because I’m an Everton fan, but he has got a good three years left at the highest level and, with Kenny to bring the best out of him, he’ll do well there.
“You always expect big things of Craig because he’s that type of player. The move will focus his mind and he’ll want to do well and show what he’s about.”
6 - Only three players (M Bent, A Cole, W Routledge) have played for more different clubs in the Premier League than Craig Bellamy.
18 – Direct goal involvements by Craig Bellamy (10 goals and eight assists) in his last season in the Premier League (2009/10).
Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz are on heavily-subsidised loan deals at Tottenham and Real Betis respectively while Wayne Bridge and Nedum Onuoha are stuck at the club on obscene sums.
And that is on TOP of the ‘hits’ they took to get rid of the likes of Craig Bellamy and Shay Given as the ‘leper colony’ was reduced with only mixed success by City’s negotiators.
Bellamy, who cost around £12million, went back to Liverpool last week but even that free-transfer move hit City.
The Welshman was due a staggering £3.8m in wages and received a hefty six-figure settlement to clear his move.
