not one of these youth/reserve centre backs are good enough.

age has nothing to do with it, at best they're average.

I take it you're some kind of world expert on how world class center backs play when they are 10 years away from their peak then?

yep. they play better than the ones we have. have u ever seen them play by the way?

Kelly maybe 5-6 times.
San Jose maybe 10-15 times.
Ayala maybe 5-6 times.

and based on that what particular attributes do you think they display that makes u think they might even make it here?

i'd love for one of them to come through but i also have seen them and imo its only a matter of time before the loan followed by sale

I have no idea if they'll make it here or not. I just can't understand how you can be so sure they won't.

based upon a combination of our recent track record in bringing players through in that position and from what i have seen of these lads.

centre back is a key position where we don't take risks and i don't recall the last player that came through the system to play for us in that role.

I understand the skepticism just not the defeatism. Remember we've only just recently started cherry picking the best center backs in their age groups from across the world.

Really?

It's rather obvious, don't you think?

carra became, indeed evolved into one - he didn't start as one. it reinforces my point about experience rather than being thrown into the deep end.

i'm happy to wager £100 for a charity of choice that within the next 2 even 3 seasons ayala nor any of these other kids will be a regular centre back at our club.

rafa doesn't bring kids through the system, he buys them in. imo even insua really got a chance because the player rafa bought in was so crap.

i'd rather have seen hammil play instead of leto, gonzales, nunez and el zahr as well.

so we bring in players to replace our home grown players who weren't allegedly good enough but then none of the players we bring in are ever good enough either.

when will this change do you think?

the academy is being changed from the ground up especially with the introduction of kenny.

Well, Insua and El Zhar were both brought into the reserve system and are now considered part of the first team squad. I've been critical in this respect in the past, but there seem to be efforts being made to change things, so hopefully we'll see more players coming through.
