ASHES - 2015!

this is starting to look like a very good score. Hoping the bowlers can get a couple with the new ball. Smith is to Australia what Rooty is to us. Very pleased with that Moeen knock. Lots of edgey shots but also some very good strokes in there.

Not a bad score, now let's hope they did lots of catching practice on that trip to Spain, we are due a few to stick.

Ooooh nice - The thug Warner has gone. Dangerous player but beautifully set up by Jimmy. Now lets see what this Smith fella is all about. From what I've heard he's going to nail it to all corners of the pitch on this track.

Lovely from England. The runs had dried up a little and Smith was suckered into that leading edge. Smith looked good though up until then. 129-2!

Yeah but who wouldn't on this track and conditions? I'd say England's bowlers have performed better overall but we all know this has draw written all over it.

Well again Rogers doesn't make his hundred - Good knock mind. With that wicket I have to say it's been England's day so far.

Definitely England's day now. Clarke gone cheaply! 207-4. A couple more wickets and there's every chance of a result.

I'd say that's England's day again. To get the entire top order and then the middle-order heavyweights out of the way at the end of day 1 is impressive. The Australian tail is strong - Haddin, Starc, Johnson can all bat so I wouldn't be surprised if they made 350-400 yet.

It's like this now though; England are playing for the win, Australia the draw.

The England bowling was actually much more disciplined than the Aussie attack, but contrary to all best predictions, the swinging conditions didn't transpire. If they had have done, the Aussies would be a few more wickets down, and with a few less runs. As it is, very finely balanced.

Not sure I agree. If anything, the Australian left-handers got too much swing and it ended up affecting their standard line and length.

I mean the swinging conditions didn't transpire yesterday. I don't see how your post contradicts my point in the slightest. It's like I've said 'apples are tasty' and you've said. 'I disagree. Oranges smell nice.'

What's that got to do with the fact strawberries and cream make a nice combo?

Yup, it was a bit sunnier yesterday and maybe less moisture in the air? but it was strange that Jimmy didn't have the ball hooping around after seeing the Aussies bowlers. I thought that they bowled really well to their plans and Cook also deserves some credit for decent fields and switching the bowlers regularly.
