We've won 5 games on the bounce as it is so we win our last 9 'cup finals' it will be 14 wins in a row

Ok but I understood what Avvy said when he meant 9 on the trot mate.

If you are planning on coming Home for the Newcastle match then bring your chequebook as I reckon a ticket will set you back £500+

Ah surely youd give up your ticket 😉 I wouldn't mind not behind in the ground at all just being in the city would be amazing. Week long party!

Not a chance im giving mine up, the league is the only trophy I've never seen us lift in person!

Well, I've been as positive as anyone this season and there's not a match that I don't think we're going to win between now and seasons end.

That said I personally think the title slipped away when City got done by that ref in Barcelona. They've got nothing else to distract them now and I can't really see anybody - other than ourselves - taking points off them. Unfortunately, that's not enough.

Maybe there's a surprise there somewhere but they played with 10 men and beat Hull. If there was a banana skin then that would have been it, IMO. I'll be cheering Moyes or Wenger on with all my heart and strength in the coming weeks and hoping for something very unexpected. But, it would be very unexpected.

If we were to mess it up i'ld rather it happened soon and not in the last 2/3 games when its so close, imagine if we were in a position where we just had to win our last 2 games and blew it, fuck that, that would be the biggest kick in the bollocks ever, we would never get over it.

Personally think we are bang up for it and will go close and if we do get in the position where its in our own hands we will do it.

I don't agree with that. Blowing it up too early might see our players' heads drop for a few games and us go off like a deflated balloon - bad enough to drop us back to 4th and having to play qualifiers in a World Cup year, or worse, even put our CL place in jeopardy. Yes, 8 points to Everton (if they win their game in hand) or 9 to Spurs might look a proper gap now, but if we start dropping points too early, we'll only encourage them. Imagine having to protect a 4- or 5-point gap with 5 or 6 games to play. The nerves will be scary.

If we were to lose it, I'd rather we pushed the thing all the way to the end - I'd even take losing it in the final game, which, while immensely disappointing, would just be a step short of a fairy tale ending to a great run. I think the players will naturally be dismayed, but at least, we'll be in a much better position, and I think the players will feel more encouraged than falling away too early again.

I still have hope in Demichelis.

It's all about the character of the players now. They must believe they can beat all comers. Brendan Rodgers does seem to have a level head and by all accounts knows what to say to each individual to keep them focused.

Time and previous disappointments have left me waiting for the stumble though. I can't help it.

That said, if we were to bring about what would be a footballing miracle; then I am going to blub like a motherfucker for days whilst being bevvied. I will probably start saying 'you're my bezzy mate, you are' to all during this phase. I think I could die happy picturing Stevie with the trophy.

It's all too good isn't it?, just a dream. Ah well, worst case scenario is that I continue as a hopeful if grumpy twat. I'm ready for whatever.

Ha I'm kidding I wouldn't even ask to sleep on the coach that week as you'd be swamped with requests, I'd just want to get into pop world with you that's all!!

I think last weekends performance made many of us start beleiving. It might happen. One good thing is that we are the ones apparently punching above our weight. The pressure are still on Chavs and Citeh. And they have a few tough games comming up. It is a big test of character for us these next two games. It is two "normal is enough" games and it will show if we lower our shoulders and go ahead with business as usual. If so we are in a very good position to wrap this title up.

I'll sort an airbed in our living room for anyone brave enough to risk being jumped on by three young kids in the morning should it come down to the last weekend, cos getting hotels etc in the city would be like trying to find rocking horse shit.

The team deserve a buzz for that weekend even if it doesn't come down to that weeknend. Either if we nail it earlier, or we jsut don't manage to go all the way they deserve a fantastic end to the season! Do you think people we be able to get private housing that weekend?

That would be ace is build a fort and you can only get in if your team has won the 13/14 epl

Jesus, I will straight up slap some of you wussies if you don't get it together. I can't believe people are still worried about 4th, I'd swear some of you only read match reports or something, because anybody who watches the top 6 on a consistent basis should feel really confident right now.

I find it bizarre that anyone would think City are that invulnerable, just because they held off a dismal Hull side, albeit with 10 men.

They lost to Wigan at home the other week. They struggled for long periods against Sunderland in the final. Their 2 most important players, Kompany and Aguero, are prone to picking up injuries. Either one of those 2 goes and they've got major problems.

They've got the toughest fixtures.

Pellegrini looks unconvincing in the big games IMO.

They've generally looked prone to fuck ups right throughout the season - they're one of those teams that seem to need to be at their best to win convincingly.

Don't get me wrong, they're a great side and will come close to the title, but I'd be absolutely staggered if they get to 90 points.

Agreed.

They're going to drop points. Just look at this list:
- lost away to Cardiff (under Mackay)
- drew away to Stoke
- lost away to Villa
- lost away to Chelsea
- lost away to Sunderland
- drew away to Southampton
- lost at home to Chelsea
- drew away to Norwich

They've dropped points in half of the away games they've played, and there are 5 more to come - against Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Palace, Everton. If I were a City fan, I'd be shitting it.

Yeah, exactly. Obviously, they *could* win all their remaining games - fuck, anything's possible. But any kind of reasonable analysis would conclude that they're actually likely to draw or lose at Arsenal, and probably drop points in another of those games as well. That'd take them to 89 points. Lose at Anfield and that's 86, and there's our chance to sneak ahead.

It mights sound weird, but right now I would have taken a run in with nine games against United rather than the run in we have!!!

The issue regarding City is they had 4 competition's to worry about in almost all those dropped points. Now they've got 1. It makes a massive difference.

As said, I'm confident we'll do them but that's about it. I reckon they could obliterate Arsenal and the mancs. I'm slightly hopeful of Everton who I expect to be fighting for 4th with Arsenal at that point. If they could turn that into a blood and thunder match then we'll see whether the city players are really prepared to fight for the title.

I just don't see it. The only time their other commitments have affected them - when there's been a real build up of games - has been the last couple of months, since the FA cup started and the CL resumed. Otherwise it's been manageable. And most of those bad results have come at other times.

Arsenal haven't lost at the Emirates since the opening day, and that was a bit of a freak result, too. Everton have also lost at home once all season.

Obv it's all just opinions, but I reckon a dispassionate observer would expect City to drop at least 2 points in those games.

I agree and believe they'll drop points in their remaining games.

Looking at the games they dropped points in, 5 of their draws/defeats came right before or after midweek CL group stage games. These were all before December.

However, they did also drop points without any cup games before/after. Early August defeat to Mackay's Cardiff side, and then back to back points dropped in early Februrary against Chelsea and Norwich came with no cup game distractions.

So on the surface of it, it does appear that the CL did seem to affect them. However, it wasn't on the resumption as you suggested, but rather in the earlier group stages.

What about the unrest that comes with only one game a week and a squad of 22 players, that all cost a fortune. There will be players unhappy in the dressing room.

As long as it's not the more important/regular 15 or 16 players who aren't unhappy, I don't think it'll be too different from any other team. Also, injuries to players take care of some of that. City looks like they have a big and deep squad, but just like any other team, they rely on a core rotation of 15 or 16 players.

NAME GS SB
Yaya Touré 26 0
Pablo Zabaleta 23 1
Fernandinho 22 0
Alvaro Negredo 19 5
David Silva 18 0
Samir Nasri 18 5
Vincent Kompany 18 0
Martín Demichelis 16 0
Aleksandar Kolarov 15 7
Sergio Agüero 15 2
Edin Dzeko 14 7
Jesús Navas 14 11
Gael Clichy 13 2
Matija Nastasic 11 2
Javi Garcia 8 11
James Milner 7 14

I also think dressing room disharmony is often a bit overrated. If you're winning, you're doing something right on the pitch, and that's what's most important.

I don't think we'll win all our remaining games, and I don't think the other teams will drop enough points for us to beat them.

But, as the great Kevin Keegan said, I'd love it if we do.
